a forest without trees

i am a forest without trees, stripped and absent.

i can only write you anagram poems
vague and nonspecific, leaving no name
(for it is your name, and you cannot have another)
i dare not use it more.

i am a forest without trees, stripped and absent.

i think it's starting to get to me now...

i am a forest without trees, stripped and absent.

you came off stage with your head in your hands
so caught up.
i wanted to run to you and hold you like a mother holds a child
but so many actors stood between.

i am a forest without trees, stripped and absent.

i bit back my tears and urges
tears and urges
and prepared to go back on stage

i am a forest without trees, stripped and absent.
a forest without trees.
a forest.
