Soooo...
"Shifuku" are the fabric bags that are made for individual Chaire (tea containers used for thick tea) and they are often made from old or reproductions of historical fabrics that have particular names, stories and affiliations. This pattern might have been the favourite of a particular Tea iconic figure, that pattern might have been a special import from Persia, the other pattern again might have been referring to a particular Noh character's costume. It's not something swift to google in English and there's some really common ones and others that are [???]. They patterns can be seasonal or suitable for any time of the year. It's a rabbit hole full of gorgeous colours and textures.
So interspersed, perhaps with wagashi (sweets) recipes for some of my Tea friends and maybe other interesting aspects I learn and want to keep with images - I'm starting a collation of Shifuku kireji (patterns) here as I learn their names and try to identify what I should be calling my own ones.
My own shifuku (tea container satchel) that I am searching for the pattern names for haiken (viewing of implements):
shifuku with a maple, ginkou and rising mist pattern - kireji (pattern) as yet unknown
Second image yet to be added - it has a pinecone, pine and ginkou leaf pattern.
