Theories
Hmmmm, been thinking about this for sometime now...
Okay, Transformers (according to some theory) are unfamiliar with puns, lies, double-meanings etc. etc. So where does sarcasm fall into this category?
Now I know that the basis for this idea is that as a logical and rational people they can only speak the truth as the speaker sees it. They can 'lie' with the truth, dance around the subject, give half truths without lying but actual lies they are incapable of doing, correct? Now a Decepticon is a master of these techniques (in theory, because we all know Brawl can't talk his way out of a wet paper bag) but when it comes down to it they will tell you EXACTLY what they want and how they plan to achieve it because...they are honest!
This, of course, would require careful choice of words and wording, sentence structure etc. (stuff I'm not very good at truthfully...) but they supposedly have a word for every concept in their existance. They only learned this ability to double talk in other languages (supposedly). So again, I ask, how does sarcasm fit in all this? Would they be capable of it in their native language? Or would that be like a form of lying?
Someone else pointed out that they could not possibly picture Starscream unable to snark in his own language. My idea is that he dances around the subject and in movie 'verse he never really has sarcasm. He tells the truth. Fearfully, honestly (as he sees it) yet he dances around the subject. "Master... someone had to take command...while you were gone." Not a lie. Another (antepathy) pointed out that they could have physical defenses, like in battle, so why not verbal defenses? Which makes sense in a way. But then it makes me wonder... Was the language of the Primes this all inclusive 'Truth only' language? And they, as a people, simply evolved their language to be able to tell falsehoods and other language quirks. If this is true, (which it probably isn't but hey I'm having fun!) the The Fallen Spoke only Truth as a main language. So how did he 'Fall' if he is only capable of thinking in 'Truth'. Logically, if you are incapable of understanding a lie or even knowing what it is then how could you comprehend doing something like that. It is almost too... robotic. So if he could only speak and think 'Truth' then how did he 'fall'?
...I'm over thinking this stuff but it is fun to think about. Just crazy thoughts that go through my mind.
