The moon had always held a certain fascination for Dianna and tonight was no exception. Curled up on her bed under her favourite cozy blanket, headphones resting firmly in her ears as the low lilting sounds of Sufjan Stevens’ To Be Alone With You coursed through her veins, Dianna watched as smoky grey clouds slithered across the pale yellow spotlight. She’d left her blinds open because the calendar told her it would be a full moon. She’d left the window open slightly because the crisp, night time air was the sprinkles.
Dianna pulled the blanket tighter around her shoulders as a gust of wind whistled through her window. Her eyes followed the shadows the moon was casting across her room; they danced and twirled across her walls to the rhythm of the wind. It happened suddenly; the realization that the once abstract shadows fluttering across her wall were no longer so…abstract.
She watched captivated as a faceless lithe figure in a flowing dress glided across her walls as if they were her stage, dancing to a beat Dianna couldn’t hear. It was in that moment that Sufjan Stevens seamlessly flowed into Lighthouse by The Hush Sound and Dianna couldn’t stop the shiver that ran through her body at her Ipod’s eerie talent of just…knowing.
Now Dianna knew the beat and she watched the shadow dance with purpose. The wind howled, cold and unrelenting and the scent of rain perfumed the air but Dianna was frozen, unable to move or even blink. She knew the ending wasn’t happy, the song of a siren and the ache of lost love, but the shadow was so graceful with the moon as her beacon that Dianna just held her breath and waited.
The ending happened gradually, the clouds stealing the moon and the shadows, leaving nothing but darkness. Dianna closed her eyes as sleep overtook her.
It was cold air that pulled Dianna from a fitful sleep, hazy images of crashing waves, lonely lighthouses, and twirling silk gave her a weird feeling of déjà vu but they vanished so quickly she couldn’t grasp on. Dianna stood slowly from her bed, blinking her eyes rapidly as she set her Ipod down. The clock on her bedside table glowed, telling her it was 3am; the devil’s hour. Dianna chuckled aloud at the thought as she walked to the window to pull it closed, clearly the 5am calls were definitely getting to her. The window slid shut easily and Dianna reached for the cord on the blinds but something on the window caught her eye. She squinted trying to make out what it was, a smudge… maybe. She crouched down so she was eye level and waited patiently for the clouds to part enough so the moon could illuminate what was most definitely a set of handprints.
The smile was instant as the knowledge flooded her brain…
Dianna had a ghost.

The trailer was cramped, as any small space would be when three women inhabit it, clothes, magazines, lip balms, abandoned scripts, and books littered every flat surface available. Ideally Dianna would have preferred the quiet book lined walls of the library, being in the presence of such an overwhelming number of books had always filled her with an exhilarating calmness, but today her, Lea, and Naya’s shared trailer would have to do.
Dianna methodically cleared a space on the table for her laptop and then slowly began piling the books from her tote bag right beside it. Ghost Hunting: How to Investigate the Paranormal, How to Hunt Ghosts: A Practical Guide, How to Photograph the Paranormal, the stack of books grew because no matter how much information she could easily access online Dianna could never pass up an opportunity to visit the book store.
She settled down behind her laptop and turned it on, knowing she would get at least a good two hours of uninterrupted research in before Naya and Lea were done filming.
Dianna’s fingers flitted over the keys…
Things to Do
- Research the history of the apartment building
- Visit the cemetery…connection, maybe?
Dianna couldn’t help but smile at her second note as the images of the cracked tombstones, a sad willow tree, and a rusted metal gate filled her mind. It was a secret she had kept to herself but the proximity of the cemetery to her apartment building had been the deciding factor that had made her sign the lease.
- Compile from the How To books
- Séance…definitely!
- Convince Lea…because nobody hunts ghosts alone.
Dianna laughed at the last one because she knew that convincing Lea to help her was going to be harder than hunting the ghost because despite Lea’s tough girl Jersey exterior she was not a fan of the…spooky stuff (as she so affectionately referred to it as.)
Dianna quickly read through the list of things she would need for the séance and was disappointed to find out that her coveted Ouija Board was not essential, but it also wouldn’t hurt anything, so she made a mental note to dig it out of the closet when she got home. Dianna made a grab for the books on the table and in one swoop had them spread out around her on the couch; picking one randomly she began scrolling through the index. In the beginning she had just thought she would leaf through the essential chapters, just to gain a basic knowledge, but again the carefully typed words drew her in and before she knew it the trailer door was swinging open.
“….you bring the Ipod dock and you can definitely DJ again, but I’m going to be bartending.” Naya smiled down at the small brunette behind her as she waltzed into the trailer.
“You’re a horrible bartender Naya; you mix the drinks way too strong.” Lea complained as she remembered vividly the horrible hangover she had had after Naya’s last party.
Naya smiled evilly, “Exactly.”
Dianna grabbed her tote bag, scrambling to get the books back in there before either of her cast mates could see them, she knew what would follow and that was most definitely ridicule about her slight tendencies towards the geekiness.
It was too late though, she could feel Lea’s eyes following her every move; she quickly threw the tote over her shoulder and shut down her computer.
“Hey guys I…”
“What’s in the bag Di?” Lea asked curiously as she walked over to Dianna trapping the blonde between the couch and the table and Naya.
Dianna’s eyes scanned for an escape route and failed miserable; she was most definitely trapped. Smiling down at Lea, she gently brushed the silky dark hair over Lea’s shoulder and leaned down so she was nuzzling just below her ear. Lea’s hand automatically went to the front of Dianna’s dress to pull her closer and Dianna chuckled, because maybe, just maybe it wouldn’t be quite as hard as she thought to get Lea to agree.
“It’s a surprise.” Dianna whispered as she placed an open mouth kiss just below Lea’s ear.
“Mhmmm….”
A quick peck to Lea’s lips and Dianna quickly breezed by without any resistance, “I gotta get to hair and make-up, see you guys later.”
“Seriously Lea could you be any more whipped?” Naya said as she quickly snatched her phone, which was currently blasting Lea’s rendition of Crush out of her pocket, smiling as she read the text from Heather.
“Who was that Naya? Was it the pot calling the kettle black?”

Dianna meticulously braided a small section of her blonde hair and secured it with a bobby pin; she was completely determined not to arrive at Naya’s party late because the Latina always insisted that those who arrived late had to do what she called ‘compensation shots.’
She literally had twenty minutes left to get to Naya’s and have a chance at not being completely hung over tomorrow.
Grabbing her purse Dianna dashed into the kitchen to grab her keys which were hanging on the little peg by her front door but she came up empty handed. She looked curiously at the empty peg knowing for a fact that she had hung them there because it was the only place in the apartment that she could hear Mr. Hatter.
Mr. Hatter was her pet octopus, well he was as close to a pet octopus that she was going to get, (for now). One night after a few too many drinks Dianna had felt the nostalgia wash over her as Lea and her had cuddled on the couch. Her rant about how the Nano was completely superior to the Tamagotchi had just been one of the many subjects from the 90’s that Dianna had touched on. The next night Dianna had opened the tiny blue box sitting on her bedside table, inside was Mr. Hatter floating across the tiny screen that was encased in the purple egg shaped plastic, Lea’s note was simple; it said For My Geek, Love Lea.
Dianna began rummaging through her purse in vain because she knew they weren’t in there. She checked the counters, the kitchen table, the coffee table, but nothing. The clock told her she was now most definitely going to be late. Frustrated Dianna began checking the same places again hoping they just slipped under something. Dianna was halfway into a squat, preparing to check under the couch, when all of a sudden the power started to flicker. It only lasted a minute but the implications made Dianna’s heart race in excitement. Standing quickly Dianna glanced around the apartment to see if she could see the shadow, her ghost…but the lights were on and everything looked the same.
Beep, beep, beep, beep.
Dianna’s head quickly whipped in the direction of Mr. Hatter’s beeps of need and there he was hanging on his peg, keys dangling at his sides as if nothing had happened. Snatching the Nano Dianna quickly fed the little guy with a few quick presses of some buttons and the beeping stopped.
With her heart racing wildly in her chest and a broad smile gracing her lips Dianna made her way down to the parking lot and climbed into her Mini Coop.
Ghost sighting was definitely worth doing Compensation Shots…definitely.

The meeting with her landlord about the history of the building had gone less well than Dianna had anticipated and she knew it probably had something to do with the fact that her and Lea’s late night TV viewing parties sometimes got a little…noisy. Lea had always said the landlord had hated them but Dianna didn’t believe it until now.
Dianna stepped out of the way as the small man rudely brushed past her muttering something about the noise levels decreasing since the mouthy brunette had moved out.
“Don’t mind him sweetheart he’s just a grumpy old man and to tell you the truth I think he misses that saucy little brunette friend of yours, would you like to come in and have a soda and a cookie?”
Dianna smiled sweetly at the old woman standing in the doorway, she reminded Dianna of her Bubby, and she couldn’t refuse.
“This land has a very rich history; you know it’s actually haunted.” The little old woman said as she held out a plate of cookies for Dianna. Dianna gingerly grabbed one debating whether or not to eat it.
“Oh don’t worry sweetheart I see those fancy grocery bags you bring home, the ones with those green trees on them. My granddaughter is just like you she won’t eat anything that had a face. They’re vegan friendly.”
Dianna smiled broadly as she bit into the delicious cookie.
“So are you doing a project for school?”
Dianna absolutely adored coming across someone who didn’t recognize her from Glee, it was always so refreshing.
“Yeah I guess you could call it a project…so this apartment building is rumoured to be haunted?”
“Not rumoured Honey, it is. She wanders the building waiting for her lover. Stories of lost love are always so sad aren’t they?”
Dianna nodded solemnly.
“Have another cookie…I’m sure I still have the letters around here somewhere.” The lady said as she pushed away from the table.
“Letters?” Dianna questioned completely intrigued by where this was going.
“Love letters. So many of them, she wrote him to fill the loneliness but she died before he returned, never got to read his letter to her…but I don’t want to spoil the story for you. Here you go Sweetheart keep them for as long as you need.”
Dianna could feel the joy and excitement radiating through every inch of her body, leaning down she wrapped the little old woman in a delicate hug.
“Thank you so much.”

Zach Woodlee burst through the doors the sadistic gleam of a new, difficult routine, shining in his eyes. Dianna was terrified. They were broken into groups and of course Lea and her ended up on opposite ends of the dance studio. Dianna couldn’t stop her eyes from straying over to the petite brunette. The black spandex of her short shorts curved around her ass so perfectly and left almost all of the tan skin of her legs completely exposed. The black sports bra and barely there white tank top just completed the look.
After what felt like hours of gruelling non stop choreography Zach finally yelled lunch. Everyone stormed the doors knowing that arriving late to craft services meant eating less than desirable cafeteria food. Dianna waited patiently until the room was completely empty, except for Lea and herself.
Lea was bent at the waist in front of the wall to wall mirrors, reaching for her toes to stretch out her quads. Dianna came up behind her, completely silent, and placed her hands on Lea’s hips, her fingers snaking under the material of Lea’s shirt to feel the warm flesh.
Lea grinned as she slowly brought her body up into a standing position, making sure to snuggle the curve of her ass into the front of Dianna’s hips.
Dianna traced her lips and tongue along the curve of Lea’s exposed neck, the chestnut hair tied up in a ponytail slightly tickling her cheek.
“Di…you know what Ryan said ‘Ladies you need to dial down the gay!’
Dianna sunk her teeth into the skin of Lea’s neck enjoying the way that Lea moaned at the slight sting of pain.
“Yeah but what Ryan doesn’t know won’t hurt him.” Dianna whispered as she trailed her hands up and under Lea’s sports bra to tease her breasts.
“Well you’re his favourite so obviously you don’t have to worry…how do I always end up being the one corrupting you?” Lea finished a little breathless as Dianna’s fingers pinched at her sensitive nipples.
“Come over tonight.” Dianna demanded.
Lea only nodded her head because words were failing her right now.

“Stop laughing Lea.” Dianna said indignantly with her hands on her hips.
“It’s just…I can’t…you…I mean you…you think you have a ghost!” The tears were rolling down Lea’s face as the laughter began to hurt her stomach.
“I have proof; it’s not something I just made up.” Dianna pointed to the box of letters sitting in the centre of the table.
Lea sat down on the couch and gently pulled out the letter on top and began reading; I mean there was no harm in humouring her girlfriend.
Dianna walked to the kitchen to make them both some tea smiling when she saw Lea reach for another letter, and then another.
In less than an hour Lea had read all of the letters and they were safely back in their box on the table.
“That doesn’t prove anything.” Lea said ever the cynical one.
“I saw her.” Dianna stated leaving no room for argument.
“You what?” Lea asked dumbfounded.
“I saw her…and you know what that means?”
“Yes it means that it’s time to check you into a mental institution.”
“Séance time.” Dianna exclaimed giddily as she completely ignored Lea’s comment.
“No way in hell.” Lea said as she stood up and walked into the kitchen.
“Don’t be scared Lea I’ll protect you from the big bad ghost.” Dianna taunted as she pressed a lingering kiss to Lea’s pouting lips.
“I’m not scared.” Lea said defiantly as she watched Dianna walk into the bathroom and turn on the shower.
“Then do the séance with me.” Dianna said standing in the doorway of the bathroom, towel wrapped tightly around her chest, blonde hair loose around her shoulders.
Lea hopped up onto the counter and continued to pout as Dianna shut the bathroom door, teasing smile still firmly planted on her lips. Lea listened to the steady rhythm of the water hitting the tile and the gentle humming of Dianna’s voice. Lea quickly realized that there were way better things that she could be doing other than pouting on the kitchen counter.
Hopping down Lea quickly began shedding her clothes and was completely naked when she entered the steamy bathroom; Dianna always loved a hot shower before bed. Lavender, steam and the scent of Dianna mingled in the air and Lea groaned.
Dianna could feel Lea’s eyes on her; she could always feel when Lea’s eyes were on her. The hot water and lavender soap had done a very good job of unwinding her and Lea was undoing all of that with one look.
Lea stepped into the shower pinning Dianna to the tiled walls with her lips. Lea’s lips were greedy and everywhere all at once, neck, shoulders, collarbone, breast, across her ribs, toned abs, and lower still.
Dianna moaned as Lea sunk to her knees, her mouth hovering over the sensitive skin of Dianna’s inner thigh. Dianna’s fingers threaded through Lea’s dark hair, loving the contrast of pale skin against shiny brown tresses. The water continued to pound down filling the bathroom with more steam, although the lavender was beginning to be overpowered by the scent of arousal.
Dianna’s hips bucked when Lea’s lips made contact with her clit but firm hands held her against the wall and now movement was impossible. Lea teased and nibbled bringing Dianna to the edge but not pushing her over.
“Lea…please.”
“Hmmm?” Lea said loving when Dianna begged.
“Please…Lea I need….just please.”
Lea plunged three fingers into Dianna, rising to her feet so she could capture Dianna’s lips. Tongues duelled and the rhythm was frantic, the steam creating a hazy bubble. Dianna moaned into Lea’s mouth as her orgasm shook her body in pleasurable waves, the taste of hot water, her own arousal, Lea, and a hint of the lavender soap lingered in her mouth; the combination making her a little dizzy.
Lea reached behind Dianna and turned off the water slowly stepping from the shower, her hand entwined with Dianna’s.
“The bedroom,” Lea mumbled as she pulled a naked Dianna from the shower.
Both girls stopped dead in their tracks as their eyes landed on the mirror. Lea’s jaw dropped and Dianna smiled her I told you so smile.
Two perfect handprints were dead centre in the steam covered mirror.
“So you wanna rethink that séance?”

The tombstone was off to the far side of the cemetery and Dianna found it instantly. She’d seen it dozens of times before but this was the first time that it filled her with sadness. The tombstone had a beautiful angel etched in the centre, Dianna thought that a siren would have been more fitting, but the jagged crack that ran down the left side had split her wing in half.
The grass was neatly trimmed and there was a wilting rose resting on the curved top of the tombstone. A chill ran down Dianna’s spine as her hazel eyes landed on the date etched beneath the melancholy angel…
Tonight was the night for the séance.

The candles flickered all around the Ouija Board on Dianna’s small circled coffee table; their light casting the apartment in an eerie glow, which Dianna thought was perfectly fitting. Lea sat cross legged on the other side of the coffee table completely horrified at the fact that Dianna wanted to communicate with this spirit…if it was even real.
“Well?” Lea questioned waiting for Dianna to get this show started.
“Ask her if she’s here.” Dianna instructed.
“No, no, no, no this is your little geek show Di; I’m just along for the ride, the supportive girlfriend that I am.” Lea said smiling wickedly across the table as Dianna grumbled.
“Close your eyes Lea; I can’t do it when your eyes are mocking me.” Dianna said scowling across at her grinning girlfriend. Lea’s eyes slowly slid shut and she shivered as a cool breeze blew through the window.
“Are there any spirits here with us tonight?” Dianna asked quietly to the silent room. Nothing. Dianna asked again. Nothing.
Lea chuckled, lowly, “So Di do you want me to call that mental institution see if I can….”
Every one of the candles went out enveloping the girls in darkness; Lea grabbed Dianna’s hand in a death grip before she could stop herself. The room grew cold and Lea was really starting to get freaked out and as soon as this was over she was going to murder Dianna.
Dianna untangled her hand from Lea’s and reached for the box of letters on the floor beside her crossed legs.
“What the hell are you doing Dianna turn on the fucking lights!” Lea exclaimed as she stood to go turn them on.
“She died of a broken heart,” Dianna murmured under her breath until she found the one letter from him. “It’s the letter Lea, she wants his letter.”
Dianna began reading the words aloud, bringing his thoughts to life, giving them a voice, and making them real. The letter was his utter desperation; to see her again, to hear her voice again, to smell her hair again, to make love to her again, and to be with her again. With every line Dianna read another candle flickered back to life and by the time she reached the end of the letter, the apartment was once again illuminated in the eerie glow of candle light.
“She’s gone.”
“How the hell did you rig that Dianna?” Lea asked not being able to keep the fear out of her voice as she quickly turned on every light in the apartment before she sat back down beside Dianna on the couch, leaning forward only to blow out the candles.
Dianna raised her eyebrows in confusion.
“That thing with the candles how did you pull it off, did the guys in Props help you out?” Lea continued her interrogation.
Dianna realized that Lea truly was freaked out, wrapping her arm around the brunette and placing a gentle kiss on her nose Dianna smiled and nodded her head yes, what Lea didn’t know…couldn’t scare her.
Lea let out the nervous breath she had been holding in and slowly threw her leg over Dianna’s so she was straddling the blonde. Lea crinkled her brow when she actually saw what Dianna was wearing.
“What’s with the outfit Di…Bank Robber’s Anonymous Meeting tonight.” Lea said glancing down at the all black outfit Dianna was wearing.
Dianna slowly ran her hands up Lea’s bare thighs, “Ummm no it was in case there was any ectoplasm” Dianna finished sheepishly.
“Ecto- what now?” Lea asked.
Dianna leaned forward and pulled Lea’s lower lip between her own and sucked, letting it slowly slide from her lips Dianna smiled a crooked smile; “It’s a geek thing.”
“I guess it’s a good thing I find geeks extremely sexy.”
Dianna just nodded as Lea pinned her hands on either side of the couch cushion.
“So I guess this is the part where I pay you back for that spooky little stunt you pulled.” Lea said as she nipped along Dianna’s neck.
Dianna laughed at Lea’s admission, “So you were scared?”
Lea ground her hips down into Dianna’s and growled a low, “Shut up.”
“I love you Lea.” Dianna whispered in her ear with a smile.
“Payback's a bitch Agron…payback's a bitch.”
