My work has been so hectic lately that I've been doing a lot of drive-thru/to-go lunches that I eat at my desk while I work. Today's another such day and I realized, it's kind of sad that I've been doing so many of them, that nothing really sounds good, considering how much there is within a mile of me.
Wendy's, Taco Bell, Carl's Jr (Hardee's for you east-coasters), Subway, really nasty chinese, KFC, Burger King, Apollo Burger, McDonald's, Arby's, Arctic Circle, Weinerschnitzel, mediocre chinese, another Subway, Leatherby's and Crown Burger all within a mile.
For those who aren't local, some of those names may not be familiar. Apollo and Crown burger are both sort of American burger joint meets Greek fast food. You can get gyros and burgers and a number of other things. They're really tasty, and I may hit one of them today, since it's been the longest.
Arctic Circle is a Utah-based McDonald's/Burger King clone. They're of better quality than either of those two chains, but it's still pretty typical fast food. And Leatherby's is a diner/creamery-- amazingly good ice cream dishes, and sort of greasy spoon diner sandwiches and burgers.
But with 16 easily to-go restaurants nearby, it's kind of a scary testament to how much I've been eating at those places lately that none of it sounds good. I may have to start bringing lunch again just for variety, although I really don't like to because getting out of the office-- even for 10 minutes-- is such a nice mental break that I don't like having a brought lunch to eat.
