Alan pulled up in front of the house that belong now to Don, Lia, and Billy. He caught sight of three of them standing outside of the moving truck talking and looking at some papers Lia had in her hands. Don had his hand on the back on Billy’s neck as Lia leaned into his chest, talking. Alan was still having some trouble understanding the choices his son had made but he would do as his son had asked, to just accept it. Over the last month or so Alan had seen with his own eyes the effect their relationship had on, not only his son, but all three of them. He had to admit that they all did look very happy with each other, standing there, acting as one force united in love. After a few minutes they looked up at Alan as he got out of the car and Don jogged over with a large grin. “Hey Dad! What’s all this,” he asked as he pointed to the large bag that was in Alan’s hands.
“Oh, I just picked up some bagels, muffins, and coffee for everyone,” Alan replied.
“Dad, you didn’t have to do that.”
“Eh, don’t worry about it. I brought the card table. Can you take it out of my trunk and set it up? I’ll put out the food on it.”
“Oh, sure,” Don answered as Lia and Billy joined them.
“Good morning, Mr. Eppes,” Lia said. “Thanks for helping.”
“Please, I told you to call me Alan, and it was nothing. Always a pleasure to be of service.” He turned to Billy. “Morning William, can you please put these on the table while I grab the other bag out of the car?”
Alan gave a puzzled look to Lia when she replied, “Ohh yes, William will be happy to help, won’t you, William?”
“Uh sure, Mister, er Alan, I can do that.” Billy grinned slightly back at Alan, Don and Lia as he took the bag.
“What time are the others arriving,” Alan questioned as he grabbed the other bag and closed the car door behind him. He followed the trio into the house as Don replied, “They should be here soon. I told them 9 AM.”
Alan looked around at the bare house as he helped set out the food. He was impressed at the work that had been done to it by the three of them “The refinish on the floor came out great. So, what’s your next project?”
“Going to work on the bathrooms. Just upgrade some of the fixtures and the tile floor in the upstairs one. Shouldn’t take me too long if I could just get Lia to pick out what tile she wants,” Billy answered before he bit into a muffin.
Lia scrunched up her face. “I’m trying to! It’s really hard, too many choices. Seriously, the tile industry’s completely ridiculous.”
Alan watched his son sling an arm around Lia’s shoulders and kiss her on the side of her head saying, “Or you’re just completely indecisive.”
She said with a little laugh, “Maybe.” She pulled away at the sounds of Charlie calling out from the door. “Ohh looks like our slaves, I mean our friends, are here to help.” She winked and went to greet him.
Alan raised an eyebrow and teased, “So that’s how you see us, slaves?”
“No, not you Pop.” Don laughed. “Just Charlie and everyone else.”

On the heels of Charlie, David arrived. He looked around the entrance of the door and caught Lia’s eye.
“David,” Lia said with a warm smile, making David feel instantly at ease with Don and Billy’s girlfriend. He thought to himself that still sounded weird no matter how many times he said it or thought it. David was still having trouble ignoring the voice of his bible thumping Grandmother in his head, saying that God created man and woman to be as one, everything else was a sin. He shook his head to clear that thought from his mind and set out to do what he was here for, to try to be there for his boss and friend, Don. He returned her smile and replied, “Hi, Lia. Sorry, I’m late.”
“No problem, everyone just got here and so far no work has been done.” Her grin grew larger. “And of course Alan brought pastries and coffee.”
He laughed, “Of course.”
Don joined them as Lia’s cell phone rang. He extended his hand to David and said, “Hey, David. Thanks for coming.”
“Yeah, sure.”
“You okay with this? ‘Cause we understand if you wanted to back out.”
David shook his head. “No, of course not. My grandmother taught me that if you promise a helping hand, you provide a helping hand, no matter what. Plus, Colby pointed out it’d make you happy, and I guess that’s all that’s really important.”
Don smiled gently at the other agent. “Thanks, that means a lot to me.” Don’s eyes flicked over to Lia who’d turned towards him and David rolling her eyes. She mouthed the word ‘Ivy’ and returned to listening to the phone call. “Come on, let’s get you some coffee while Lia’s on the phone She’s the boss of this show.”
“Sounds good.” David’s lips curved into a small smile and he followed Don to join the others at the card table Alan had set up.
A few minutes later Lia walked back over. “Okay, so that was Ivy and she’s running late, uh, no surprise there, so I guess we can start unloading the truck. I have assignments for everyone.”
Don’s lips curved into a small smile when David mouthed the word ‘assignment’ to him over Lia’s head.
Don waited ‘till Lia was out of ear shot showing his Dad something in the kitchen and quietly said, “When it comes to Lia and her assignments it’s best to just go with the flow. Trust me.”
David, amused, answered, “I’ll keep that in mind.”

Ivy Lane stepped out of her car and made her way up to the back of the moving van spying Don and Billy shirtless, sweaty, and carrying boxes. She grinned at the two men, secretly laughing in her head at the whole idea of her friend Lia being in a threesome. “Hello Lia’s boys.”
Don shook his head at her comment while Billy smirked at the greeting.
She clicked her tongue on her teeth, making it a point not to hide the fact that she was admiring their sweat-streaked torsos. “I see she has you two working hard.”
“Yup, and I see you’re late as usual,” Don shot back.
Her grin grew wider as she replied, “Don’t you know it’s my signature? So, where’s my girl?”
Billy smirked in reply and said in a slow drawl, “Our girl’s in the kitchen.”
She sniffed good naturedly saying, “Lucky girl.” She waved over her shoulder and sashayed into the house. Once in the house Ivy found Lia in the kitchen with an older man unpacking boxes and loading items into the cupboards.
Lia looked up and rolled her eyes. “Only two hours late, not to shabby Ivy.” She turned to Alan and said, “Alan, this is Ivy. Ivy this is Don’s father.”
Alan gave Ivy a pleasant smile while he shook her head. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Ivy.”
“Pleasure’s all mine Alan. I see where Don gets his good looks from,” she replied, ignoring the the roll of Lia’s eyes.
Alan chuckled. “Why thank you.”
“This place is coming along pretty good,” Ivy said with a tilt of her head. “So, where do you need me?”
“Hmm? I guess for now could you head up to the master bedroom and hang up all the clothes from the wardrobe boxes? Don’t worry where you put everything, it’s a large walk in. I’ll organize them later.”
“You got it.”
“Oh, Charlie is up there bringing in boxes with Colby Granger. Try to behave yourself.”
“Who me,” Ivy asked with an innocent smile before walking away.
“Yeah, you. And stop flirting with everyone,” Lia called out before returning to unpacking.
Ivy laughed to herself and made her way up the stairs taking note of the layout of the place. She took note on the color of the paint that was chosen and was pleased that Lia had taken her advice. Ivy mused, what’s the use in having a friend that was an interior decorated if you couldn’t put her to good use? Once upstairs she passed two small bedrooms and took a quick look inside. They were filled with boxes labeled in Lia’s neat cursive handwriting. She continued down the hallway, hearing two men talking. One of the voices she recognized as Charlie Eppes said, “So, what do you think is in the box?”
The other man’s voice replied, “I have no clue, and for some reason I’d like to keep it that way.”
“Why,” Charlie innocently asked.
Ivy answered as she stepped into the room, “Why? ‘Cause you never know what naughty things they could have in that box. Like, maybe the three of them are into handcuffs or something. Billy and Don are FBI agents after all.”
Charlie’s mouth dropped open in horror. “Oh God Ivy. Did you have to say that? Now I have images in my head.”
Ivy let out a hardy chuckle. “Oh come on Charlie. I was kidding. But your uh, friend, here makes a good point of why we shouldn’t snoop.”
Charlie, mollified, said almost peevishly, “Fine, fine. Hey Ivy. I see you finally made it. What? Two hours later than everyone else.”
She shrugged, “Eh, I’m here right?”
He shook his head. “Yeah, after all the hard work is done.”
Ivy waved Charlie’s comment off and asked, “So, who’s your friend Charlie?”
“Colby Granger, ma’am. I’m one of the agents on Don’s team.”
“Oh?” She let her eyes trail over the well-built green eyed man. She extended her hand to Colby who took is and squeezed it gently. “Is it a prerequisite for all LA FBI agents to be hot or something?”
Charlie rolled his eyes. “Colby this is Ivy Lane, Lia’s friend.”
“Um what,” Colby asked as his eyes flicked over to Charlie.
“Never mind,” Ivy sighed, “Lia asked me to unpack the wardrobe boxes.”
“Oh, uh yeah. Colby and I put them in the closet already.”
“Great. I’ll get started,” she replied, casting one more long glance at Colby before walking over to the closet.
Around thirty minutes later Charlie stepped into the closet with the last wardrobe box. Ivy looked up as she hung some blouses up on the racks.
Charlie looked around. “Ivy, did you color code Lia’s clothes?”
“Sure did. I’m an interior decorated after all. Here are Lia’s, and over there are Don’s and Billy’s dress clothes for the office.”
“Makes sense to me, mine are all in color and style order in my closet,” Colby added, carrying in another box.
“That’s cause you were in the army,” Charlie interjected.
He laughed, “Yeah, maybe.”
“Army? Really,” Ivy purred.
“Yup.”
“Very interesting.” She ran her tongue over her teeth and gave Colby another appreciative smile and he grinned back in response. “So, Agent Granger, what do you think of this whole thing?”
Colby leaned up against the wall, his eyebrows rising. “About what Miss Lane? It is Miss Lane?”
“Sure is.” She met Colby’s eyes and slowly licked her lips.
“That is good to know.”
“Sheesh, will you two stop flirting with each other,” Charlie cried.
Ivy chuckled, “Oh Charlie, you’re just the cutest. If you weren’t with that dish Amita I’d snatch you up all to myself.” She turned back to Colby. “What I was referring to was Lia and the boys, you know their relationship, the threesome, or triad if you want to use the fancy term Lia uses.”
“Ah. Not much to think about. Don is happy, Billy and Lia seem happy and that’s all that counts. And a happy Don is a happy boss which is a good thing for us all.”
“How very enlightened of you Agent Granger,” Ivy murmured.
“Nah, not really, and it’s Colby, please. Unusual relationships and families are nothing new to me.”
Ivy’s eyebrows rose. “Oh? Never mind, it’s none of my business.”
“Don’t worry about it. I’m from what you would call an alternative family.”
“What kind of alternative families do they have in Idaho,” Charlie asked incredulously.
Colby chuckled in reply, “You’d be surprised. Idaho is a pretty liberal state. My mom moved us there when she was transferred to Gowen after my Dad died.”
Ivy pulled one of Lia’s dresses out of the last wardrobe box. “Oh, I’m sorry to hear that about your dad.”
He shrugged, “Thanks.” Before Colby could reply Amita poked her head in.
“Hey guys. Charlie your brother asked me to get you for a second. Hi Ivy.”
“Hi Amita,” Ivy smiled at the younger woman.
“Oh, sure.” Charlie nodded as he followed Amita downstairs.
Ivy watched Charlie take Amita’s hand and head down the stairs “They really do make a nice looking couple,” she mused as she met Colby’s eyes.
“Yeah, they do,” Colby smirked.
“So, you were saying? You know, about Idaho.”
“Uh, yeah.” he stopped speaking as if considering what he would say. “My mother always said I shouldn’t be ashamed and I’m not.” He paused again. “What I was going to say was my mother loved my father but she didn’t meet her true love ‘till we went to Idaho and she met Christine She and my Mom loved each other and she was like a second mother to me when Mom was deployed. I guess what I’m trying to say is that love is love and even if it is different, it still is what it is.”
“Your mom’s lucky to have someone like that.”
“Yeah. She is lucky. I hope I find what she has one day.”
“That’s really sweet.”
“Hey Granger, I was going to help bring, oh hello. You must be Ivy,” David asked as he stepped in.
“I see my reputation proceeds me. And you are,” she asked, eyeing the dark skinned attractive man who stood before her.
“David Sinclair, he’s my partner.”
“Ohh, another FBI agent. What? Did Don rope in his whole team to help? I guess you have to do what the boss wants?”
Both men laughed.
“Nah, we’re happy to help,” David replied. “Don’s more than a boss, he’s our friend.”
“Yeah, he is,” Colby chimed in.
“Well, the three of them are lucky to have you two as friends. They’re a lucky trio.” Ivy mused sort of herself, “Maybe there’s advantages to their relationship.”
“What’s that Ivy,” Colby questioned.
“Ah, well, I was thinking to myself that maybe they have the right idea with this whole threesome thing. Three sets of hands to do things, three sets of hands to comfort, oh, and three sets of hands to do all kinds of delicious things.” She asked in jest, “Hey if you two are single maybe we can look into our own threesome hmmmm?”
“Umm, I’m seeing someone and uh, Colby, I’ll meet you outside to bring the couch in,” David sputtered as he quickly left the room.
Colby chuckled as he said, “I do believe you scared the man away, Miss Lane.”
“Oh well, whatever. I guess we can always look for another third. Right Agent Granger?”
“As long as they have dark curly hair. That’s my only preference,” Colby said with mischief in his voice.
“Really?” A slow smiled spread over Ivy’s features. “You know what Colby Granger? I do believe that there is more to you that meets the eye.”
“You have no idea,” he answered with a look in his eyes that gave Ivy shivers.
“I guess I’ll have to find out all about you.”

“Thanks again for helping, even though you were late.”
“Oh come now, you should be used to that after all these years.” Ivy clicked her tongue. “Alright Lia, I will leave you to celebrate your first night in your new home with your boys. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
“Which isn’t much,” Lia quipped back.
“Pretty much.” Ivy leaned in to hug her friend and said to her, “I’m so happy for you. You deserve so much happiness.” She added after releasing Lia, “Okay, I’m out of here. And listen, if a certain green eyed FBI agent asks for my number, don’t play hard to get.”
Rolling her eyes, Lia replied, “Oh lord, get out of here.” She gave Ivy a playful shove out the door. “I’ll call you later.”
“Sounds good, have fun pookie,” Ivy said with a smirk before the door closed in front of her.
Shaking her head Lia made her way into the living room that now held furniture and some unpacked boxes. She took a seat on the edge of the couch next to Billy and laid her head on his shoulder. He put his arm around her shoulders and kissed her forehead. She asked, “This is really ours isn’t it?”
“Yup, mortgage and all,” he replied.
“What’s Don up to love,” she asked as she snuggled in closer.
“I thought we should toast to the new place,” Don answered as he came in carrying a open bottle of champagne and three flutes.
“Mmm, wonderful idea baby.”
Don grinned as he handed the flutes to Billy’s out stretched hands and began to pour the liquid into the glasses. Don smiled, his face lighting up like a thousand watts, he held his glass up to toast saying, “To us.”
Billy nodded and added, “To our home.”
Lia held her glass up and clinked it against Don’s and Billy’s. “To us, our home and our future.”
They took a sip of their champagne and savored the moment. Don watched his two partners with love and affection. He finally had a home to call his own and people to share it with. He considered the future that laid ahead of him and all the plans they had for each other. Don decided that it couldn’t get any better than this.
Don put his arm around Billy’s shoulder as he took another sip from his glass. He watched Lia dip her finger in the glass then skim the lip of her glass with the finger as she looked at him and Billy with a mischievous grin. She drained the last of her champagne in one gulp then help up the glass to show them it was empty. She moved closer to the two men, pressing herself against them as she murmured sweet nothings.
Don felt his heart speed up as Billy move closer against Lia’s and his bodies. He nuzzled against Don’s neck briefly before nipping at Don’s earlobe, making Don let out a small gasp.
Lia licked her lips before leaning in to give Billy a long kiss, one hand laid on Don’s chest. She nuzzled his nose than moved to Don to bestow a similar kiss on him as she kept one arm around Billy. She pulled gently out of their kiss with a small happy sigh. Lia then grabbed the bottle of champagne and sauntered to the stairs, calling out over her shoulder. “How about you two join me upstairs and we’ll really christen this place the right way?”
Billy let out a hearty laugh, squeezing Don’s shoulder with affection, before he followed Lia upstairs. “ Now that is the girl I love. Coming Don?”
“Yeah, wouldn’t miss it for the world.” He answered back.
Don smiled to himself one last time as he locked up, turned off the lights, and made his way upstairs to the arms of his waiting lovers.
