Endgame

So it looks like the conclusions are all that remains be written for my thesis. There's something oddly anticlimactic about writing that sort of thing, how small it all seems when you have to sum it all up in a couple of pages; makes you wonder how these things take so long to finish.

Anyway, there it is. I guess firm deadlines do help - that, and a little bit of group pressure, as well as the fact that my grant application inexplicably went through so I'm going to a conference to do a presentation about this stuff this summer. It really would be all kinds of embarassing if I hadn't graduated by then.

I really look forward to having something other than my thesis to report abou. Well, the plus side to having an actual deadline means that by next month, there really ought to be something else to talk about.

Well, marginally so, at least. I'm starting to realize I'll probably never be free of this thing. Research is a vicious circle of sorts - so once this thing is done, the very next thing is writing an abstract for that conference. After that, the article(s). And I guess after that, the dissertation! Oh dear. First, though... the thesis.
