You wait, Time passes
Well, it so happens I'm 24 now! It's a weird kind of number, and for the life of me, I can't think of anything clever to say about it. That's funny, in a way. It's not as if a great deal of things haven't happened in the last year, but at the same time, I don't feel substantially older at all. Perhaps that's about as much as can be said about that?
Two years ago, my birthday involved going on an excavation somewhere in Southern Finland; a year ago, I was juggling classes and exams while writing in Eternity: Rise From the Ashes. As I recall, in both cases, I was pretty pleased with myself. There is a certain logical sense of progression, in that today present, what I'm doing is that I'm relaxing from the last month I've spent digging up stuff, and also and writing stuff for that elusive next tournament, These Mortal Things, which however has not started yet, and incidentally happens to be mine.
Well, I believe I should say something about that? I've been meaning to, for quite a while now, but there's something about going off to dig holes in the ground and unearth mysterious artifacts that tends to distract you! However, worry not: even though doing that thing I just mentioned has cut a swath in the prepwork I'd been meaning to do through the spring and early summer, the work on it is not going badly at all - for instance, for several weeks now, my co-hosts have been in possession of a somewhat vague, imprecise and admittedly poorly written planning document which, nonetheless, contains considerably more information about the tournament and its proceedings than tenshi_kain had told me about Spellbound up until the tournament actually started. ^___________________^
So here's the official word on it, OK? First of all, TMT is absolutely going to happen, and not only that, it will be totally rad and awesome. That said, after the... not inconsiderable amounts of stress and uncertainty involved with getting that aforementioned last tournament off the ground, for the sake of my sanity and the sanity of my co-hosts, These Mortal Things will run when it's ready to run. I could've set a date, but in practice, it would've kept getting pushed further and further down the road... so what I intend to do is that once the introductions and the system are in shape, we'll post them, drafting will go live, and the tournament will start some two, three weeks afterwards. The prework will get done, things will run smoothly, the hosts will have time to pay attention to you, and... you guys will actually have time to read the intro before the tournament starts. Am I just imagining this? Is this a dream? Maybe, but this is kind of what we're shooting for!
And really, it won't be that long until we get there, either. And now, cake.
