The Good End

Well, time flies. I think it's about time I actually post something here, too! What's happened in a month? Well, there was a Christmas vacation during which I played some weird video game about world-destroying mimes, university started, and, oh yeah, there was this tournament ( Read more... )

1 - 12. Müllenkamp. NEXT!

Okay, let's be serious here -

1. Absolution? Redemption? Blood? Family? Destiny? I struggle how to explain this concisely. Sydney will die because he is the carrier of the Blood-Sin. He could run, but he chooses not to.
2. Pass up an opportunity for a cryptic, snide monologue that demolishes someone's soul.
3. The cacophonic chorus of lost souls does not leave him, even in his sleep. He doesn't dream much. But beyond that, Sydney... has no dreams for himself. If he did, he would do horrible things. So he doesn't. That's part of the deal of being what he is.
4. The only things he really owns are his sword, his clothes, and things that are part of his body. And they are things he will need to give up, too.
5. Sydney does not put too much stock on memories. People lie and deceive themselves, and Sydney sees so many of them, sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. That said... Sydney's most treasured recollection is a simple, ordinary, warm summer day of his childhood, where nothing was out of ordinary at all. He sometimes wonders if such a time really could have been.
6. The day he realized his father was not a good man. Following that, the realization that he wasn't either was easier, in comparison.
7. His father, to an extent, and Müllenkamp, to the absolute.
8. A world ruled by someone like him. Or worse.
9. I don't think he laughs. Laughter is the music of the soul. Sydney doesn't have one.
10. "Do not be afraid... the Dark will wait..."
11. While Müllenkamp is the presence that overwhelms his world - but inside, his mind is dominated by Duke Bardorba and Joshua, a father and brother he does not truly even know. Ironically, Hardin is the only person in his life he can genuinely be fond of.
12. And here, "Müllenkamp" really is the only answer.
