Wow, so yeah. For anyone who still cares even remotely enough to read this, I feel like I'm going to die tomorrow. I mean, it's the first ACTUAL tournament of the year for me (Tuesday night was a congress) and I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing. Take a deep breath. Seriously. Stress sucks (I'm well aware, having ... you know, been a FREAK in high school and all), but it's not the end of the world. The trick is to take everything one step at a time, otherwise the situation is going to seem insane and completely overwhelming.
Next, speech/debate is ~also not the end of the world (seriously!). If your partner is a jackass, punch them or something (okay, violence is bad.... right); it's your first freaking time doing CX. You're going to make mistakes. You're going to make .... very dumb mistakes ... for awhile. Accept that. Get over it. That's how you learn what NOT to do. Make sure THEY (your partner) accept that and get over it and are willing to help you. If your partner blames you for losses, they're just being silly. Debate is a collaborative activity and a loss is never entirely one person's fault. If you find yourself with a really mean partner, speak up (or else you might get stuck with them and start hating debate ... then you'll never be a master debater!).
As for the 1AC, don't worry about it. You'll get faster with every reading. You might not get through the whole thing at your first tournament, but by that time, you'll have read it two or three times ~at least (and hopefully you'll be practicing it during your down time as well) and you'll start figuring out which sections you need to work on to maximize your spewin' skillz.
