Still ill. Ugh.

Introduced Jelli and Macavity to each other for the first time yesterday evening. We did it on the stairs (we had planned to do it at the doorway to the office, which is Mac's room, but both of them decided otherwise). There was some hissing from Jelli, but it was the 'warning' hissing she does when she's nervous or when she's trying to tell you something - her ears don't go flat, her back doesn't arch and a few seconds later, she's acting all friendly again. Mac was completely non-hissy. In fact, he seemed rather intimidated by Jelli for a lot of the time (which makes some sense, since Jelli's been here longer and is actually older than Mac), and didn't hiss back once - he just sat there and sniffed back and cowered a little.
After a while though, he got bored and decided to dodge past everyone and investigate downstairs. Jelli was a little put out by that, but we sat with her while he ran around and sniffed at everything (and tried to eat her food a couple of times, for which he got told off) and generally forgot all about the other cat. As we've said before, Mac isn't exactly the brightest cat in the world.
Nick picked Mac up to take him upstairs after a while, and took him over to Jelli to say goodbye. Jelli hissed a bit again, to which Mac responded by meowing at her, which was the sweetest thing. Things seemed to be going well, and Jelli even seemed to relax enough about Mac to try to be nice to him - she tried to lick him.
Which was when Mac hit her. No claws, thankfully, but it was so sudden and so unexpected that we weren't expecting it. And after all, all the agression up till that point had come from Jelli. Mac was thoroughly told off, Jelli was told she was a Good Cat for not retaliating (I think she was as shocked as we were) and Mac was taken back upstairs to his room. We're probably going to try things again today, but it has to be the two of us there because Nick can move faster than me if it comes to picking up a pissed off cat.
So overall there, things went both good and bad.

Watched the whole of my Supernatural box set last night with Nick, who has found himself surprisingly entertained by it all. He says he likes the way that Dean and Sam actually fight and argue like real brothers do, and he was also quite surprised by the amount of research the show's creators have put into all the supernatural elements. On the other hand, he doesn't understand the Wincest angle in the slightest (and spent a couple of minutes arguing about how 'Wincest' was a strange and silly term because 'incest' described things just as well). Nick has never been much of a slash fan, though, unless it's femslash (he especially likes Willow/Tara), but he did say that there were several moments in the series when he wondered why the show seemed to be trying to hit at it. And when Nick notices slash undertones, you know there's definitely a slashy subtext.
But I enjoyed Supernatural. And now I've got to work out how to get the second half of Season 1.
