It's all part of the process...

So thanks for putting up with the teaser pic... here is the whole de-long-ification, as documented by my good friend/life coach L:

One last comb-thru.

Still haven't decided if the braid is going to get donated, sold, or incorporated into some creeptastic artwork.

We almost left it at this funky look. Stick-straight Asian hair is the best for choppy texture.

... and after!

This morning I'm dealing with Helmet Hair issues... but even the semi-sweaty situation makes for cute hair. The stylist, Susan, is a savant!

The Chinese New Year doesn't start until February. Heck, the regular one hasn't started yet. But I figured it was just time to move on and forward with my life. All that hair was starting to symbolize a kind of holding pattern that I've been in for the last three years.

My world had shrunk down to encompass only as much as I thought I could handle, and I underestimated myself.

So, I'm starting my New Year Now, irrespective of any existing calendars.

Last week, I started my new workout program and I've been that good kind of sore ever since. The thing I'm struggling with the most right now is the eating-six-times-a-day part of the program. It's just the breaking-in period with the workout, so it's not too strenuous yet. I can't seem to get enough (good) calories in! Ah well, I have two more weeks to evaluate my current (holiday influenced) diet before really starting to think about planning out my meals/snacks/etc.

One of my favorite aspects of this particular program is the way the authors have left wiggle room in there for simple human nature. They are also quite good at managing expectations - for instance, they don't have any before/after photos. There's some anecdotal evidence referenced, but since we're all special snowflakes when it comes to what we do and what we eat we are told to expect different results from the program too.

I've mostly avoided making resolutions at the start of the last few years, but since I'm sort of jumping the gun, I'll pretend it's OK. In the next vaguely defined, general period of time to come, I plan to 1) reintegrate a healthier lifestyle, 2) maximize my current vocational situation, 3) focus more energy into various creative outlets (Arcana work, piano-playing, and that currently empty etsy shop). That should keep me busy for a while!

So! What's up with y'all? My big plans for tonight involve baking up even more crescent rolls and also multiple batches of ontheborderland's pulla bread. It was a huge hit at work the last time I did it - I'm thinking it might become as traditional as the cornucopia of crescent rolls. Bought a gallon of milk, two dozen eggs, and eight sticks of butter in anticipation of the bake-o-rama.
