Oh, wow.

I don't know whether Stephanie Metz makes me want to pick up my felting needles and, ahem, take another stab at my sculptural work, or if her amazingly mad skillz make me want to throw them up in the air with a "That's it. I give UP!" sort of envious defeatism.

A little bit of both, I suppose.

But now I'm determined to get that good.

needle felting, she's crafty

Oh my god, she is amazing. I wouldl be inspired too if I wasn't already in the throes of defeat (da-feet?) from those lissajous socks. I am finding the pattern very confusing and I am only one row in!

Aiya! I'm sorry to hear that the pattern is proving difficult. I haven't so much as glanced at it yet (though I did notice that it was many pages longer than the Victoria pattern - which I understand a lot of that is stockinette, but still! Sweater pattern < sock pattern?! Really?!)

It is up there on my to do list - after I get through some gifty-type knits (My Discontent grows daily, albeit slowly ... which seems appropriate.).

I think it's because sometimes charts confuse me...I would almost rather have the instructions written out. And on top of that, when the chart starts IMMEDIATELY after you cast on (I am used to you know, an inch or two of cuff to get me warmed up). But..if you've cast on 72 stitches and the chart charts 52 stitches and she doesn't state what you are doing with the remaining 20 stitches not charted? We should assume they are ...just knit? Probably a silly question but if you are going to have a 7 page pattern anyway, you may as well include statements of the obvious :)

In the meantime I started the (ravelry link)...which I thought was going to be just straight forward, mindless stockinette, but turns out there's all this wrap+turn short row hem shaping and waist shaping and bust darts, etc. Oh well. With all this shaping, it's bound to fit, right?

I cannot wait to see how Discontent turns out! I have some lovely midnight blue silk/merino laceweight that I think I will use with that pattern
:)

Oh that is a sweet (as in cute, adorable - not so much with the "rad!") pattern. I would opt for the split-neck rather than the button placket or the "hulk out" option pictured. I really don't like the look of painstakingly knitted garments pulling against their button like that.

As for that hella complicated Lissajous pattern... it looks like on page 3 (under the shadow box showing cast ons for different sizes) that there are some stitches between charts B and C that need to be worked between the markers. Would those account for your missing stitches?

Sheesh. Just from reading those first three pages, I feel like I need to take notes and set up secondary charts/instructions. Very thinky!
