No, it's s'not.

Having appropriately supplicated myself to the GalloJesus, I have been on the mend. There is still a hint of the mucus when I speak, but I am most definitely nearer to non-sickness than not.

The Mister regrettably is now in the viscous thick of it.

All hail the Greasy Creep!

So this past weekend we did not much all of anything. I made another batch of roasted garlic soup (this time with the ingredients the recipe called for and with fresher bulbs of garlic) which was most excellent. We also treated ourselves to piping hot bowls of phở.

I knit, then re-knit, then re-re-knit the Super Sekrit Squirrel project of Fair Isle-ness. It went from being way too tight, to way too loose (insert short French painter joke here) to not-exactly-just-right-but-dammit-it's-close-enough. If I had re-re-re-knit this sucker, even if the tension and floats were perfect, it would've been imbued with my blackest crafty hate. I do not want the intended recipient to get a Cursed Object. So I'm considering it Done. Pictures later after it's finished blocking and has been sent off.

Last night I watched the new Terminator show (because River Tam is on it) and, yeah. I'll probably keep watching if I happen to catch it. They also cast the guy who played Liz Lemon's boyfriend (the Beeper King) on 30Rock, so if he's a recurring character I might be more interested. (As long as the timeline stuff doesn't make my head explode. F'rinstance, does this teevee series consider T3 cannon?)

We also saw The Orphanage on Saturday. It wasn't quite as scary as I thought it would be, though there were some definite "EEK" moments. Mostly it was really sad. I haven't seen a "horror" movie with so much emotion in a while. If you want to bum yourself out a bit, I highly recommend this movie. Also the house is exceptionally beautiful/creepy. The foley guy should get some sort of award.

How were y'all's weekends?

Edited to add: D'oh! The whole point of my post was to ask all you book readin' types a few questions... 1) Do you read, or have you read any Jane Austen, and if so 3)Have you read Persuasion and if so, 3) Is Anne Elliot kind of annoying to you? Or is it just the two adaptations I've seen so far (the 1995 version and last night's Masterpiece Classics flagship*) in which I find her really, well, vexing. I guess it's all part of showing how her spark has been restrained and diminished in her eight-year subjugation to the whims and influence of others. Still! With the annoying!

*had to watch last night because I am an Austen adaptation junkie and also because Giles played Sir Walter Elliot to the pompous, narcissistic T (Tee? Tea?).**

**at least I think he did, as this is one of the books I haven't read yet. Because Anne is annoying!

health, teevee, at the movies, she's crafty
