Interpreting the Dance

“Then Guinevere stands alone in the centre of the stage, and begins a pas de deux - make sure the spotlight is right on her -”

“Alone? A pas de deux? What about the lifts?”

“Forget the lifts. But, a solo pas de deux? What’s the point?”

“Oh, why ask, isn’t it obvious? Guinevere always turned to the men in her life for support - Arthur, Lancelot - and they always failed her. A solo pas de deux? shows that perfectly. But at this point?”

“Guys, stop fighting! Professor Lyons, I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be. I’m enjoying helping adapt La Morte d’Arthur to ballet.”
