I'm (hesitantly) against that; when a community goes to that kind of format, it tends to lose cohesion.

Perhaps lengthening the challenge time - like one a month, with maybe a couple "wild rounds" or something thrown in?

Or maybe it's time to consider doing a Dark Is Rising fic challenge exchange or something...

I'm kind of with you - I think structure is good, but I also can never manage drabble in a week. (Lame but true.) And so I never participate, because while I know I could hold onto a ficlet til the amnesty week, that would mean I'd have to be sure to know when that was, and I tend to fall off the face of the internet occasionally.

thoughts... what about a new topic a week, but you have the entire month to get the drabbles done? for ex, any challenge proposed in January could be answered in January?

also, maybe there could also be a static post, where comm members could suggest drabble topics?

Something similar happens to me; the weeks when the theme really gets my mind going are weeks I have no time, it seems.

Excellent suggestions.

But...I am rather change averse when it comes to this comm. I love this community, especially Gramarye's challenges--although I do see Sam's point. Could we try tinkering/smaller changes like lengthening the time available and doing exchanges, at least at first?
I'd love to see ash's pictures as prompts, too.

Gramarye, do you still have time for this?

If the alternative to losing cohesion is total silence, I'm afraid I'm in favour of losing cohesion. ;) But I don't see why we couldn't give the lengthening the time idea or the fic exchange idea first and see how they work out! (I'm not running it; I don't have time. But I do have a lot of pictures from various relevant locations to use as prompts, and will be acquiring more soon.)
