My Day In General And My Reaction To The Chile Earthquake

Feb 27, 2010 15:45

Ugh....I feel horrible. I finally managed to get some cold medication today, so my throat isn't that bad right now. It most likely will be in a few hours, I'll most likely have another cup of tea later on tonight to both help me sleep and to help my throat as well. For that, it would be peppermint chamomile tea. If that doesn't work completely I can always take melatonin as well to add to being able to sleep. Oh that's great, I just found out that there's honey vanilla chamomile tea in the house and no one told me about it. Hell, If I knew that I would've made some last night before I went to sleep!

I'm glad that there hasn't been any major snow bursts today, there's already enough snow on the ground anyways. We don't need anymore on the ground, I'm trying to imagine what the yards and sidewalks will look like when all of the snow starts to melt. Geez, that will be a lot of flooding when the ground tries to absorb all of that water! Its actually pretty fun sloshing around in the water when things are like that, but it gets a bit messy when the mud and pieces of it start to get all over the place.

Hell, I'm glad that I went and decided to finish the Jane Eyre paper that I had to do this week, now all I have to do is edit the paper. Hallelujah, I'll be finished with the damn thing soon enough and I'll be into reading Macbeth finally! That's just going to be a relief to get to, I actually like Shakespeare so I won't have to force myself to read and write on the book. I'm not sure what the assignment is going to be exactly for that part of the semester, but I know that its going to be a lot easier than what I had to do for Jane Eyre. Its going to be a lot less page wise too, I don't have to have 5-6 pages on something about it even though I could write that much on it. There's just so much that I could pick from to write a paper on it, so I should have an interesting time with picking from my choices.

I woke up just a little while ago, yet I'm still really out of if. So tired, sore, and moody in general....I know what the cause is. I need to find a way to counter it though. Possibly between caffeine, something sweet, and possibly something like homemade beef stew to enjoy. I really love a lot of the things my mom makes, and I haven't had that in a while. Its one of my favorites besides two alarm chili, homemade chicken soup, baked chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, and lasagna. Now that I think about it, having some chicken soup does sound really good at the moment. It probably has to do with the fact that I'm sick and the fact that I also haven't had it in a while too.

I finally got my new glasses earlier and I'm actually happy enough to say that they really didn't get that much worse. There was a slight change for the better in my right eye, and my left eye got just a little bit worse. I went back to wire frames and I'm glad I did. They're a lot lighter and easier to fix if they do start warping and bending. The plastic ones aren't, they have to be sent in to be fixed. Which would suck because I would've had to wear my glasses to see until they came back.

Hm...it's actually somewhat warm outside. That's a change from the absolutely frigid temperatures that have been the usual around here. I think its a sign that spring is coming soon, that's if things just don't get really cold again. I don't mind the cold, but having to walk around in frigid temperatures and the snow is something that I don't like to look forward to. Hell, I can't wait until spring comes and the snow leaves until next winter. Bring on the warmer temperatures!

I need to get some ibuprofen....finally getting a headache from these new glasses.

The Chile Earthquake and the Impending Tsunami

The past twenty four hours have been pretty chaotic when it comes to earthquakes. There was one in Japan, then a few hours later there was one in Chile. If there will be a tsunami from the one in Chile, the damage from the earthquake in Japan would just be added to with the waves of the tsunami that could come. Hell, people on the west coast are supposed to be moving away from the coast and to higher ground. I really want to know what will happen, I do talk to a few people that live in Hawaii and in the Pacific in general. Whoa, I just heard that tsunami waves were hitting New Zealand already, yet they haven't hit Hawaii yet. While that is strange, there are always delays and differences from one stretch of land to another.

Its basically just a waiting game, for ones in the continental United States and more so for the ones in Hawaii and anywhere in the Pacific.

Whoa, its creepy sitting here watching the lead up to the eventual waves of the tsunami that is supposed to hit Hawaii. I'm actually glad that I'm not there waiting almost in the dark just for something to happen. It just would be really creepy because I wouldn't know what I would do at all. That makes me really glad that I live in Michigan and not on an island that is surrounded by water at time like this. Hell, I hope that most people that are there will be alright, we don't need another disaster like the tsunami in 2004. That was terrible enough.

I really do hope that people listen to the authorities and get to higher ground instead of letting their curiosity get the better of them. Please, Please listen to them! Oh god, I knew something like this would happen. I'm being read off some 'tweets' as they're called on twitter by my mom, and apparently there are some complete idiots out in the water and on the beach. Hell, the authorities have told people to listen to the warnings and get to safety, but there's always going to be the ones that want to see things for themselves. Why can't people just go with common sense and get the hell out of there?

People, I implore you; common sense is within everyone, you just need to be able to use it. Please do so!
