YAY!
So we made it back from Savannah safely on Tuesday evening. We got lots of great stuff for Christmas, Mom even kept the tree up for me! I hadn't seen it since she changed the theme from mauve Victorian, to something more fitting of the living room's new more Mardi Gras inspired color palette.
I got a new, well new to ME, sewing machine. a Kenmore 1760. It's from 1938 but is in mint condition and sews so much more smoothly than my 5 year old Singer Quantum 9940. Even stitching, Template style buttonholes which include eyelet holes, and separate cams for a variety of special stitches. Although my Singer does all the same things, it does NOT do them very well, even from day one. I never really liked the buttonholes, although it does create rounded buttons, the length guide isn't quite sensitive enough, so they always turned out weird.
It may not be industrial but it should give me more satisfactory results until I have saved up for one.
I used to use my grandmothers Kenmore which I eventually ran into the ground. But I have got to say this one, although older, is in far superior condition and seems to be a bit more high end than hers. It's free standing, so it doesn't HAVE to be set into the table, and also has the free arm function.
So now I have to modify my sewing table again to put it to use.
I also got a fab lefty-righty tea cup and saucer. No more Plastic cups killing my persona for photos ops beotches!
Ok. It's Michael's Birthday and it's time to go walk up to the Kroger to pick up a couple things for a fancy Moroccan dinner for 2.
**Well it seems that the original modifications wont be able to be removed. Which is ok I Guess, they don't seem to move even with the screws out. I'll just screw it back down and get a thin piece of plywood to nail on top of the brackets.
