Prepping for 2010 site renovations

Dec 31, 2009 18:04

So I've spent the afternoon looking over my website. It was my full intention to do some updates but I swear if I don't feel a need to just start over or something. Things just feel disorganized. If I categorized things better I think it would be easier for individuals to see my range of work ( Read more... )

From some one who dose marketing and add work for a living and is flipping good at it.

Do put steampunk in and on tex on your site as it will make it come up on a goggle hunt.

Do also put the term as this is a wider range broader market key word
"Neo Vintage style" that gives you the flex to do anything and even jane doe on the street kinda knows what it means.

"Alternate History " for people who know what it means it would work but I would suggest staying away from it, would suggest "Neo Vintage Couture" has a larger range dose not make stupid people think you just do Mock ups from history books and gives you tons of room to play in and do what ever it is you wish to do.

"The House of Canney"
"Neo Vintage Couture"
&
"Steampunk Sensibilities"

That way depending on who your selling too you can clip off the "Steampunk Sensibilities" and keep the "Neo Viatage Couture" as your older or more main stream clients will love it.

On your color pallet for your web site stay away from browns. Market research shows people tend to not like browns in packeging, unless it is for baked goods or things to do with wood.

Once you get your site up and how you like it let me know I will post it all over for you to I hope give you a burst of work.
Your good and people should know and able to buy your talent. Your stuff blew me away at dragon con the fine work and construction is something rarely seen .
The other thing that is going to help you long term is your very nice looking I know people do not like this fact but when your nice looking it makes it that much easier to sell what your doing or for people to like to buy from you. So I suggest getting some good head shots and such of you dressed to the 9s for the front page of your site , that will do two things, show the person who is making there things so they know its not some faceless sweat shop and also since you are nice looking and look good in the stuff you make it will let people know, If this is how the guy who makes the stuff look and how he looks in his stuff just think how great I will look.

Ok I hope this makes sense and was not too pushy. Its free advice so take it or leave it.
Once your all set with the site I will help you push it so you can eat.

hey thanks! Yes i still intend on sticking steampunk in it somewhere, but it's not a term I want to be abusing.

I like the neo vintage couture thought, but I would not use the word Vintage, since it references to a whole different time frame.

Neo Victorian Couture might be the better bet.

I would be up for changing colors to a degree, but brown works so well with all of my work. My older website was primarily black, with white text and purple accents, but it felt to stark and cold.

Concerning colors though I have considered taking out the sepia color and bringing in a robins egg blue, which would probably help make things look fresher.

I'm fiddling around with changing the left hand categories to something more along the lines of this:
- Neo Victorian couture
- Authentic Historic Apparel
- Fictional Recreations (anime and movie stuff, looking for a better term)
- Pageantry & Formal Attire (this will include drag clothing)
- Corsetry & other curiosities (includes drag specialty items such as gaffs, cleavage creators and such)

I think the categories speak on there own more, as much as I like the descriptions it makes things to busy.

Oh and yes I will be taking some more pictures to replace the few of me that are on there.

The only why I suggest Neo Vintage is that is a buzz word but out of the list you have there I would go with "Neo Victorian couture"

Go with the light blues and black tex, it will make your product photo stand out.

Its a shame you do not live up here , I would hook you up with one of my pro photo people to get free shots of you. Are you thinking about coming up here for any events before dragon con? If I know a head of time I can pull strings and get you a photo shoot as long as I have enough lead time.

BTW HAPPY NEW YEAR!
