I had a revelation today at work, and I was so inspired I've decided I have to write a song, despite the fact that I don't know how to play any instruments and have probably forgotten how to read music by now. But I will succeed in this task, doubt me not! The lyrics are all ready in the works.
I know people have been saying for ages that disco is dead, but more and more recently I hear songs on the radio, new songs, mind you, that sound suspiciously disco-ish. I've mentioned this to friends, saying "Hey, I think disco is back!" And they all scoff at me, pat me on the head like a little child and say in a sympathetic tone "No Ann, disco is dead." Which can lead me to only one conclusion: disco is a zombie. There can be no other explanation, because I definitely hear it's groovy beat infiltrating the radio waves. Think about it, disco and zombies have a lot of things in common. They're both dead, but refuse to stay down. People openly fear and despise them, but still secretly think they're kinda awesome. They both spread like a virus: in the case of zombies it's the flesh eating cannibal kind, in disco it's that groovy melody that gets stuck in your head all freaking day so you can't help but start dancing a little and singing the lyrics when you think no one is around, but then your coworker comes over and asks what the hell you're doing so you say "I've got this song stuck in my head", and they ask which song and you sing it for them and then they get it stuck in their head too and they curse you for the rest of the day... Well maybe that only happens to me. Anyhow, I have decided I need to open the eyes of the public to this undead horror lurking in our mist, masquerading as some other genre of music (alternative?) But I know what it really is, and by golly I'm gonna tell the world. Through song!
