Indoor Recess

Sep 02, 2003 17:19

We had indoor recess today. The fun of it all. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Only had problems with first grade class I was looking after.

Went and had Frank look at my ear. He said it's scarred inside but looks good. Always a good thing. I don't mind scarring as long as I can hear.

I got mentioned in the school newsletter. I feeled love even if it was two sentences:
New to us this year as a local educational assistant in the cafeteria and playground is Natasha Matherly. Ms. Matherly is very interested in working with elementary age children and will help us greatly on the playground.
Go me! Now you all know what I do for two hours a day while school is in. Doesn't my offical title make me sound like more than I am.

And since I mentioned Mr. Tree to Meg, I will post what I said here so you can all know about Mr. Tree.
Yes, Mr. Tree. I yelled at one of the fifth graders to not climb on this one tree one day. He started to do it again and I said I had had a talk with Mr. Tree and that Mr. Tree said he didn't like him and didn't want him climbing on him. It's a running joke like thing now with a bunch of fifth grade boys that hang around the tree.

I think the school has gotten hit in the head too many times. What good does placing a kid up against the wall for 2 minutes do?
On the playground, our local educational assistants will give consequences for misbehaviors on the playground. They will keep a record for each student that recieves consequences. Their consequences will be:
1st offense-Warning
2nd offense-Time out on the wall-2 minutes
3rd offense-Time out on the wall-5 minutes
4th offense-Time out on the wall-10 minutes
5th offense-Loss of recess
Nice of them to tell us that we need to keep a record. Yeah, like we're really going to do that.

By the way folks, keep my mother away from Mr. Johnson now that she knows me and him have something in common.
