I just finished watching the last few episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender on dvd. Man, it was fantastic. I won't give too much away but the action was intense and set the right emotional tone, I'll admit it I teared up a few times. Not many shows or movies can pull me in that much but this one did.
I also like they didn't wrap everything up in a neat package, leaving loose ends keeps you thinking.
For a animated show on Nickelodeon, I feel it was a lot better then many live action shows or movies out there. I know there's a live action movie being made by M Knight Shyamalan, I can only hope and pray it's as good as the show and he doesn't put stupid twists and junk like that in it.
