Hi, all.
It's been a rough few months in my personal corner of the world, and that looks set to continue for a while, but I am still here, watching you all from the lurker-filled shadows. I'm only commenting every once in a blue moon, and not writing much of anything, though I do feed the bunnies to keep them hopping around my feet for when I'm able.
Six weeks ago, Mommie Dearest finally moved into her own place, meaning I didn't have to sleep on the sofa any more or put up with her UK soap opera addiction. I celebrated my alone time by dling a couple of eps of a show that had popped up on my flist time and again - not because I thought I'd enjoy it, but because I thought I'd be wincing and groaning through them before relegating the show to the 'Do Not Want' list.
(To explain: my idea of a comfort movie is something like The Day After Tomorrow, or Supervolcano, or, if I'm in a more visceral state of mind, any 70s horror movie or one of the SAW franchise. I get great pleasure from picking holes in/laughing at the plot/production values/science/acting/fake gore etc.)
I was absolutely sure I would not like this show. I haven't been able to get into anything with a 'teen' cast since Buffy, and even then, I fell for Giles, Spike and Dru more than the 'teens'. (My love for Xander developed over time.) Veronica Mars and Vampire Diaries both failed the 'can I stomach the fake teens for the detective-y/vampire-y goodness' test.
Another reason for not expecting to like it is that I am not a fan of cover versions or remixes, especially of songs I love. I know there are some amazing ones out there - I have a small collection - but the bad/indifferent/horrifying far outweighs the good.
So. I hit play on the pilot episode of Glee and waited for the wincing to begin.
*headdesk*
I'm now halfway through my 4th viewing of the entire season, and I have the complete box set pre-ordered, to be delivered in September. I spent 12 days reading everything I could find in the Puck/Kurt pairing because my foeyay button was well and truly pushed. I have a type, people. Who knew? ;)
literati has been wonderful, barely pointing and laughing at me at all after all the teasing she put up with from me for her Harry Potter 'schoolboy addiction'. *smooches*
And now for a meme, ganked from
entrenous88, to try and kickstart my thinkyness!

I watch a lot of crime/detective/law shows and a lot of sci-fi, so feel free to go crazy with the show choices. If I've seen more than a couple of eps I should be able to wing it. *g*
