Really, this is sad. And yet, I just want to shake my head and sigh at the same time.

Thank you!
I don't have an icon for it either, hence the use of my Father Gabe icon, and my Felix Thud icon, signalling my guilt and shock and feeling of omgwheredidthiscomefrom?! :D

It's been years since I read a James Dean biography, and I had to do a fast skim of Sal's IMDb and Wiki pages to refresh my memory (beyond the basics of "pretty and doomed and 'would have rolled over for Dean in a heartbeat'"), but by the time I'd loaded the pages, the scene was already writing itself in my head.

The sadness was almost incidental. Sal was pretty and fresh and new, an irresistible combination for Dean, but Dean was also obsessed with bagging Brando and I really doubt he tried that hard to hide it.

Yeah, that's so Hollywood...the characters are more real than the actors.
There's something thrilling in this piece, aside from the obvious visual and visceral appeal. Maybe it's the tragedy that followed these poor guys, and to see a moment of peace, if not contentment, is moving. It's good. Really good.

My first thoughts whenever I watch 'Rebel' are how pretty and how doomed the cast were. The main trio all died tragically before their time and this movie in particular seems to carry some of the weight of that.
Maybe that's why it made the perfect backdrop/timing for this tiny piece.
