Last Night's American Idol Auditions

I can't believe I'm actually writing about this because I hate American Idol. I don't find it entertaining at all and am genreally resentful because House is always cancelled for it. However, I recently discovered I love the auditions. Watching all the terrible singers is infintely amusing. I saw Paula Abdul's stalker and laughed my head off while being extremely weirded out at the same time.  Last night they had the Dallas auditions, which were... interesting. At the end they had Birdman.

They'd been advertising him for the whole show telling us that "And later- Birdman!" would be coming up, accompanied by dramatic music while showing him fanning his cape. He had the stranget costume ever. It was this white, puffy... thing with white platform shoes, a white and silver cape, and a giant hat with Simon's name written on it. He had this sort of Simon worship thing and wrote a song for him. He sang the song, called "Brothers Forever" or something and stared straight at Simon the whole time. It was hilarious because he couldn't really speak English very well and during the middle all the judges brought in what's-his-name Ryan Seacrest and they all walked up to Birdman and started doing a group sway move, like some demented camp dance. I'm assuming he didn't make it to Hollywood, but he was really fun to watch.

There were a couple other interesting auditions, including a very enthusiastic baseball field caretaker, a really boring girl completely devoid of personality, and a guy who had apparently done extensive research on vocal technique and kept doing these really bizarre warm-ups. Once Simon told him he couldn't sing, he proceded to do another song, saying he wasn't warmed up yet. After he had gotten the same results on that song, he tried to do ANOTHER song, despite the fact that all the judges were yelling at him to stop. He eventually got taken away by security to "a safe place" (That's literally the wording they used). We later got shown a video of him singing in the stairwell while being dragged away by the guards, still trying to prove he could do better. There were also several bad Kelly Clarkson impersonators and several cross-dressers. One announced that he was dressed as a woman "to prove I can be versatile". Okay then. Another advised guys to try cross-dressing because "pants can be too restricting". No comment.
