A Scattered Collection of Thoughts

Hm, I think the main news since I last posted is that I'm back on HiH. I'd been kind of starting to miss the community and looking back fondly at all the things I'd done there, also kind of wanting something to stop tumblr from monopolizing all my time, so I resubmitted a sorting app. I figured it had been several months since I stopped doing anything there, and since then I'd gone to college and changed a bit, why not be sorted again? Funnily enough, I think this was right around the time I joined last year. I ended up in Hufflepuff again, which is fine with me. It would've been interesting to experience things from the perspective of a different house, but Hufflepuff is probably the best fit.

So far, I think I've been doing reasonably well managing it with my schedule. Things have calmed down considerably at HiH since the beginning of the school year when I was so overwhelmed (particularly on the sorting front), so it's less stressful, especially since I've set lower standards for myself. This weekend was both a three day weekend and Hogsmeade, and I managed to do enough activities for a participation banner despite hanging out with friends basically all weekend including a stretch of over 24 hours together. I will, however, be quite busy with homework tomorrow, so there's that. Coming up is Knight Week, so we'll see how that goes with my midterm on Wednesday, and whatever else is going on...

Another thing I want to do is get off the computer a bit more (when I'm not busy with special occasions like Hogsmeade or Knight Week, that is) and so I've downloaded The Hobbit to my Kindle. True, I didn't make it through a single Lord of the Rings book, but The Hobbit seems more fairy tale than excessive description, so I've got high hopes so far. Also I'm just really excited for the movie that's coming out in December, so if I've got to wait months for that I figure I may as well read the book first.

Hmm... Valentine's Day was last week. I got a cheesy stuffed teddy bear from someone I really didn't want to get a present from, but I left it in a public place so that hopefully it could brighten some random person's day who picked it up. I also got a lot of delightful holographic valentines from the Pride meeting, and I've used them to decorate my room and my door. Because my roommate moved out! There's also that. She moved to the single down the hall which is... slightly awkward because we still live rather close by each other, but I have the entire room to myself now and no one keeping me up at one in the morning with her noisy friends.

So yeah, I guess life's been pretty decent lately. This weekend was actually rather interesting. Stayed up til four in the morning on Friday playing the Sims with a friend and doing silly things like putting our friend Nick in a "Nick Cage" and killing off the Sim of a friend we kind of have mixed feelings about. Saw the remake of "Footloose" and had a sleepover with my extra bed on Friday. Made dorm room pizza again and tonight we went to Taco Bell and got nachos and a twelve-pack of tacos to split among four people. We got three tacos each, it was fantastic. I joined the tumblr craze of playing Mapcrunch and spent over an hour (possibly up to two hours? I didn't keep track) derping around Ireland until I found the Dublin airport. Good times. I feel like I may pay for it a bit tomorrow, though, with the homework, but oh well.
