I miss Mr. Combs!

Note to self: in the future, don't take Advil on an empty stomach immediately before eating lots of lasagna. Bleh.

Also, drama lately has been making me RAGE. We have maybe half the amount of rehearsal time we had before because the replacement "teacher" spends most of the period making announcements, taking attendance, or teaching us the basics of acting as though we were all still in Beginning Drama. She isn't even a teacher, she's in charge of student services, but I suppose she was given the position because she has past dance experience and the replacement French teacher has no drama experience. We've gone down from five performances to three, our shortest run in the entire time I've been in school drama despite the fact that we're putting incredible amounts of effort into the production. Parents are flooding in all over the place to help, we're borrowing decent costumes from a prior production of the show, we're hiring a professional dance person to teach us contra dance and to provide us with music, and we're selling out ad space in the program to make some money. Yet we've got rid of the Saturday evening show, which is always by far our biggest show, because the replacement doesn't want to stay late while we strike the set if she's not getting paid. She made flimsy excuses about how we would be there until midnight if we had an evening show (despite the fact that we've never been there that late in the past) and that it would simply be too late for our cast party afterward.

Apparently all the students who politely asked her whether we could start the evening show a bit earlier than usual so we'd be done earlier (but still have a fourth show) were being selfish because we wanted to feel like our work paid off, we know that most people won't come to a Saturday matinee or Thursday night show (leaving us with one show that might have halfway decent attendance), and we want to make sure that the seniors have a proper last run. I don't think anybody really enjoys drama anymore.

rant, drama
