Happy 2011!

It's the New Year! Hurrah! I've had a rather spectacularly boring New Year's Eve. Slept in, did chores, finished up a supplementary essay and submitted the second to last of my college applications, wrote fanfiction, read fanfiction, and cooked dinner because no one else wanted to. Meghan was at a friend's house for half the day, Mom's been working on financial aid stuff, and Dad's been sick... So we did nothing. Stayed at home and watched the ball but didn't see it drop. I kind of wanted to do something, but it was pretty much decided that we wouldn't be doing anything because of Dad being sick and Mom not really being a going-out type person. Oh well. I did get to watch fireworks in loads of different countries due to having the news on all day. And there was sparkling cider, with which we toasted, so it wasn't a complete loss. I think our neighbors may have had noisemakers or firecrackers due to the noise, but no one went out to check because it's cold outside and we're lazy. I believe this may be the first time we've celebrated New Year's at the new house, because I think we were in Chico last year...

2011 is going to be less of an adjustment to make than 2010 in terms of numbers and such, but it's going to be a very different sort of year, isn't it? I'll be graduating high school this year. By next New Year's Eve, I'll be in college. That's a little bit of a scary thought, all the change coming up.

... We still have all our Christmas decorations up. Maybe we're making up for lost time, once we finally got them up? Not that I'm complaining, because they do make the house look cheerier and they're pretty, but I suppose they'll have to come down soon now that all the winter holidays are getting over. It's a bit odd that I'm starting to get vaguely tired, considering I've been staying up to 2 and 3 in the morning for most of Christmas vacation. Maybe it'll be something of a New Year's resolution to get back on a more normal sleep schedule in time for school. Not that it matters on days other than Tuesday and Thursday because I'll be able to sleep in, but still... I think it's funny that I know almost all of the songs on the program we're watching, and mostly because of Meghan and her pop preferences. Well, and the song currently on I know from playing Tap Tap Revenge on my phone.

I'm rambling and it's getting silly. Happy New Year!

holiday, new year's
