Well, as far as birthdays go, this wasn't exactly the best. It started out fairly well, I was home alone and caught up on several hours of TV shows and finally read the Batman comic I picked up last weekend, but then the day started to go in unexpected directions. Everyone was busy today, my mom had work stuff in Sacramento, my sister had cheer stuff in Sacramento, and my dad had to show our old house again. He was supposed to have a class, but it was canceled. Since it had been canceled, he was planning to take me shopping for my sister and mom down in Sacramento after he showed the house. Except that the people never showed up, so he was just sitting around waiting for forty five minutes and we got a bit of a later start. First we had to make a stop at the pool supply store to have the pool water tested, because he suspected our pool guy wasn't doing a great job cleaning the pool (he wasn't), and were there for about an hour. Not counting the fifteen minutes we spent trying and failing the remove the key from the ignition.
The ignition in our Honda SUV has been having issues. It was starting to not always work when you tried to put the keys in, so he had it replaced yesterday. Now it's even worse, taking forever to remove from the ignition all the time. The car will turn off, but the key won't come out. So we had to take it over to the dealership, where a guy jiggled with the key and drove the car in circles for about fifteen minutes before he just put some lubricant on it to get it out because he didn't have time to do anything else, and told us to call him if we were still having problems. My dad has written an angry email to send to this guy's boss, because clearly there were some problems.
We had no time to go shopping because there was traffic and we had to pick up my sister, then get home so I could eat before drama. We almost stopped at Costco for food, supplies, and gas but couldn't because the key was stuck again. So I scrounged for something edible and went to drama for the unusually early call. We couldn't go out to dinner or do presents because I had to be there so early, had a cast party afterwards, and even if I didn't go to the cast party it would still be a bit late. But the day got better, because drama was good, I stayed to watch beginning drama's shows, and the cast party was a lot of fun. And since my dad needed to eat dinner anyway, I didn't have to wait for a ride home from Denny's. Like last year, I had to get up on stage while the audience sang 'Happy Birthday' to me, but this time Mr. Combs brought me cupcakes, so it was all good.
Tomorrow we're going out to brunch at a casino buffet for Mother's Day. Hopefully it's good!
