Hmm, I don't know why I haven't been posting much at all, lately. Too busy reading Harry Potter fanfic, visiting the NaNo forums, and writing random things, I expect. I haven't been too swamped with homework, it's been much better this year. So, I've decided what I'm going to write for NaNo- it's sort of an urban fantasy about a secret group that goes around making sure the rest of the world never finds out about the existence of supernatural creatures. I'm determined to make it very different from the X Files, because that's what it keeps getting compared to. Well, I'll try my best as I've never actually seen the X Files. Most of the characters were inspired by an interesting combination of songs off my iPod, Harry Potter characters, Phantom of the Opera, and Agent Sands, from "Once Upon a Time in Mexico". It'll be fun, I think. Some of the characters are really interesting to write. One has decided that he likes to call people by various strange, food-related nicknames...
Also, it looks like we'll actually be moving, after all. We found a nice house, a little bit further away from where we are right now, which is kind of a problem, but in an actual neighborhood with occasional sidewalks, near a library... I'm very excited about that last one. We'll probably be moving in sometime around Thanksgiving, so that might make NaNo a bit interesting. Also, random fandom rant, because I was thinking of it earlier and decided to write about it if I was going to be posting anyway:
I like original characters. I like writing about them, and I occasionally like reading about them. It's an interesting combination of original fiction and fanfic, I like the challenge of making them not Sues, and it's fun to see how they fit into the canon universe. Unfortunately, they seem to be not very popular in most fanfiction, because of the Mary Sue reputation, mostly. So whenever I write OC-heavy fic, I feel a bit bad about it, because if I ever post it, not very many people will read it, especially this one fic I'm writing that only vaguely relates to canon at all, other than the setting. Not very many characters, or anything. So, that was just something I felt like discussing with myself online. I'm done now.
