The flames reach high.
Another solstice gone, and one of the best to date. I got horribly ratarsed drunk sitting with Pops and Eddie and Punk Chris and all ny real friends outside the KSR. Alix turned up looking gorgeous as usual so we had another couple of drinks before heading home to pack tents and things for camping on the common for solstice. I was meant to get dead deer, skewers and booze but Alix ended up getting it all as I was in a bit of a state. We got home, I played the Butthole Surfers at stupid volumes, then trekked out to the common to set up the tent. I didn't fall over as much as I thought I would and we got the tent up in a reasonable time. The smell of venison roasting over an open fire is amazing. I've recently realised that there are a lot of smells that really really make me happy, so I'm going to list them for you:
+ diesel
+ 2-stroke
+ 4-stroke
+ grass clippings
+ burnt dead thing
+ lighter fluid
+ WD-40
+ Port
+ The air just before a tropical rainstorm
+ Cloves
+ Ozone given off from an arc welder
+ Fake napalm ( petrol and styrofoam )
+ Engine oil
+ People just after a shower
+ Cats on a radiator
+ Cherry pipe tobacco
+ Wood shavings
+ Brand new guitar strings
+ Old books
+ Homebrew beer when it's almost done
+ Rusty metal
Okay there's probably a whole lot more but that's just what comes to mind right now.
Anyway, we had venison, port, cheese, cider and I treated myself to some white widow. We burnt some dead pig in the morning for breakfast, packed up in good time and I headed down to meet up with Scottish for a few games of pool at WT's then off to the boatrace for the blues jam which was entertaining as usual.
I've been wandering around with my hair platted being uber pagen viking boy for the last few days. It's nice to have relativly long hair again.
I have a lovely single piece knife that I bought recently, admitedly I sliced myself something shocking after sharpening it, but I feel good and happy and at peace right now.
