Transformers!!

Ahem, that is to say, I saw the Transformers movie and it rocked. :D

Everytime the Autobots or Deceptacons transformed, I got a little thrill because it was just so. damn. cool. The effects were done really, really well. And since I have a thing for autonomous robots of all kinds, I was entranced from the get-go.

I liked how they gave the Deceptacons some menace... I never quite got that type of menace from the anime. For example, I knew they were evil and all that, but I didn't get the same sense of urgency and underlying destructiveness as I did in the movie. Then again, I've only caught a few episodes of the recent anime version so I might have missed something.

My favourite anime version has to be Beast Wars. I used to stay up really late just to watch it because it was so fun and cool, and I loved the dark themes there. I was so shipping Silverbolt and Black Arachnia, because who doesn't love the honourable, goofy dork, Silverbolt, who is literally a knight in silver armour paired with the manipulative, scheming, and seductive Black Arachnia (who happens to be a teensy bit fond of Silverbolt even though she won't admit it). ♥

But yes, back to the movie.

Things I liked:

+ The humour. I cracked up when Bumblebee communicated with his songs... and then I cracked up again, when he got offended when his car transformation was called 'piece of crap', so he cruised for flashier and car and then comes back to them with this smug, flashy music on really loud. *hearts Bumblebee*

+ Sam broke my heart when Bumblebee got captured and he rushed at the guys who were restraining him by freezing him and hooking metal things onto it. He kept yelling at them to stop. ;_;

+ Optimus Prime. He had weight behind his words. Plus, I liked his voice.

+ The action sequences. Awesome, awesome, awesome. From when they transformed to the fights scenes... Awesome.

+ Sam. Because the actor they got to play his role was beyond perfect. He nailed the humour scenes and delivered the lines so well... and then he broke my heart during the sad scenes.

+ I love how in the end, they were kissing and you think, aw, but then the camera pans over to the Autobots, who are only a metre away and watching and then you can't stop snickering because they are watching.

geekery, i like movies
