I was meant to have a more substantial post and, uh, post it earlier but that kind of went astray. I guess this will be a preliminary one until I finally get onto it?? Which... could be a while.
Having said that, I can't believe I haven't posted anything since April. I was meant to after my holiday but then things got kind of... crappy and I ended up in a bad/weird place. I'm still not exactly sure what it was. I just kept feeling really bad or really shitty about insignificant things that were outside my control.
Not only that, some personal (re: family) stuff also happened around that time, which didn't really help either, but I have recently managed to pull myself together. It's been rough, but I'm beginning to feel good about things again, and it's getting easier to shake off the bad stuff... Hopefully, it stays that way...
So, stuff that has been going on so far...
I have a new phone (well, it was brought a fair few months back but I still consider it new): the
Samsung Galaxy S2, along with a phone plan... I needed data and I needed the handset subsidy. The price tag on Galaxy-sama was not good for my heart >_> But the phone is awesome. I love it *_*
I also just brought a laptop! I was going to hold off until next year, because Mac-chan was showing signs of slowing down but not too badly, but then in the last couple of months it's become really frustrating so... new laptop it is... I'm enjoying all the geekery though I'm holding off on transferring my stuff over for the time being. Might be time for a fresh start Y/N?
I'm back on Windows again (yes, I was very curious about Windows 7), and this time, I'm a little impressed. The taskbar and some of new inbuilt functionality is very useful. I admit, it's taking a little while adjusting from being on a Mac for 3+ years. I keep getting the shortcuts wrong. One thing I do miss though is the app launcher (Quicksilver) on my Mac. Going back to the using a Start Menu feels weird. To be even more confusing, I'm still using Mac-chan for ad-hoc stuff so moving from one to other means I have to change the way I think :O
I think I've settled into my new team (I started in May but there were some changes)... We are now down to three people and waiting to see if we're going to fill the places or not. I hope so, because I'm not entirely confident we can handle the workload of what used to be a five people team >_>
One tiny bit of good news is that my performance review came back and I did well. I received a bonus and will receive a pay rise next year. It's not a high amount but aksdfl I'm just happy I got it. The bonus paid for the laptop, after all ;)
Anyway, my plan is to catch up to...everything... and hopefully, the holidays will help. I have strategically taken my annual leave to give me two solid weeks of time off, which I really need at the moment... I'm just counting down the days right now...
