I'm very tired...
A few weeks ago I got diagnosed with epilepsy (complex partial seizures). Life has been very exhausting ever since. In addition to black-outs and some memory loss, the seizures can cause (and do seem to be causing) depression and fatigue. My neurologist tried me on some medication, but I had a pretty severe reaction to it, and due to the time of the reaction, he is not hugely optimistic about trying me on other drugs. Right now I'm in the process of getting some diagnostics done (had an MRI today, an EEG in a week) to ascertain whether I'm a good candidate for surgery, but the prognosis is that this is something I just get to learn to live with. I don't get to drive anymore, and as the DMV has been notified of my condition, it would actually be a felony if I did drive. The neurologist said the ever so helpful "try to keep your stress level down; stress makes epilepsy worse". Of course, things are pretty hectic at work right now (the feds are coming on Monday to make sure we're spending 6 million dollars they gave us like we said we were), and not being able to drive is just adding one more level of stress to my job. I'm very, very tired.
In other news, my skinny-ass child has lost three pounds since November (she's now down to 21 pounds). We plan to switch her back to whole milk (she has been drinking 2% for the past few months) and feed her many snacks of cheese. She will be seeing the pediatrician more often now so he can monitor her weight gain progress.
