Back to Basics

Two or so years ago a family friend of ours quit her job to have a child.  Despite loving staying home with her son, for a while she wasn't feeling herself. Then she realized she missed working. After returning to work her husband said "It feels like I have my old wife back!" And that got me thinking...

A week or so ago I got together with my best friend from high school to play catch up. She asked me if I had been doing any writing lately. I haven't, so I said no. But that doesn't mean I haven't been thinking about it. After hearing the story of my recently employed friend it dawned on me. Now that the stress of school is over, something had been missing. Writing. I've begun weening myself from Facebook games and reading more, the next step of course is to start writing again. First step, returning to my neglected LiveJournal. Next, it's back to fiction! With my recent self imposed distancing from Harry Potter I won't be writing any new fanfiction -- at least I don't intend to -- but I'd like to finally put to paper the story that's been forming in my head.

Also, today I bought a beautiful (synthetic) feather at Barnes and Noble and a cute leather bound journal with an owl on it. Fun notebooks and pens make writing that much more fun, don't ya think?

On that note, I'm heading to bed since I'm going to get up early and work out before work in the morning -- anything to distract myself and wear myself out both physically and mentally these days I guess.

Live, Laugh, Love,
~Ashley
