And the medical adventures continue...

So for those of you who don't know already, I received great news at my six-month CAT scan checkup a couple of weeks ago: the bones in my neck have now fully fused. That only means that I'm recovered from the accident, not the surgery (funny how that works,) but at least they said I look good enough to not need to come back. I was excited and went out with friends to celebrate my recovery.
Looks like I might have celebrated a bit too soon. My wrist, you see, has not healed properly, and today a woman finally arrived to fit me for the ridiculous braces I now have to wear in order to catch up. The one for flexion isn't so bad, I guess, although I sure have enjoyed being able to sleep on my left side again for the past two months and I'll miss it *growl.* But the brace to improve supination...guys, nothing in your existence has prepared you to imagine what this thing looks like. This is something Leonardo da Vinci might have designed: about six inches in diameter, made out of airplane aluminum of all things, and my wrist just sort of turns inside it like a training astronaut...I'm seriously thinking of changing my Halloween costume to Robocop. And I'm supposed to wear these--get this--for a combined total of seven hours per day. That's seven hours, mind you, of just sitting--I can't type wearing these things. I don't even come close to having that much reading to do. I'll wear these as much as I can, because I'm REALLY ready to be done with this bullshit. But I am absolutely furious with both my orthopedic surgeon and my occupational therapist for not prescribing these stupid things this summer, when I had the time to dedicate, instead of waiting until the second half of the semester.

Oh, and while I'm on a bitching spree, they really should turn the heat off in my dorm seeing how it's been 80 degees outside lately.
Yay for fall break...that doesn't really become a break until Saturday.
