So, I have a new project to keep me entertained while I wait to hear from Hawaii.
Project Lugia!
What is Project Lugia you may ask? Its a very ambitious, on my part, sculpture project that I've been wanting to do for some time. I'll be making posts here during various phases of the sculpture making. My cousin, Emily, will be assisting in the creation of this massive undertaking as well.
This is a very basic sketch of what I have in mind.
Yes, I know the back fins are missing. I did that on purpose. Its a very basic sketch. XD They will be in the sculpture though.
So today is the first phase of the project: The Stand!
The Lugia can't very well hold itself up, thus it is a wooden platform with a straight, threaded rod to act as the main support. The rod itself will be completely concealed by the Lugia itself and the water.
So here it is!
This stand consists of an unfinished wooden plaque that I bought on clearance at Hobby Lobby for just under $2. The rod is a foot long and 3/8'' wide with a flat nut holding it in place on top and a wing nut below. There are two "feet" on each side that I cut myself to support the platform and make room for the end of the rod and wing nut.
