I can't believe I'm haunted by Asano Taeko even when I'm not watching her.

Seven eps into IS and I almost don't want to watch anymore, because it's becoming increasingly clear that my OTP isn't the OTP and WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO ME.

Okay so I still want to watch this but I'll wait to see how the OTP plays out. I don't want to start yet another story where I might be completely disappointed by the ending.

By the way have you read After School Nightmare? Because it had the exact same issue with the main intersex character going back and forth on whether he was a boy or girl depending on who he was attracted to. I really wanted someone to introduce him to the concept of bisexuality too. Is bi visibility just really really low in Japan? X_x

You'd think after Asano Taeko I would've learned my lesson about getting invested in genderqueer characters in dramaland. D: There's just something about femslash (even straight femslash) that causes me to lose all brain function besides "EEEEEEEEEEEE!"

That name sounds familiar, have you recced it before?

*throws up hands* APPARENTLY. Though I guess it's pretty low everywhere unless your name is Jack Harkness.

Probably not, I've got pretty mixed feelings on the manga right now and I'm waiting on the final volume to see whether I'd recommend it or not. Like it has one legitimately fantastic character arc (Kureha is my forever girl ♥_♥ I'll always be glad I read the series for her) but I kind of go back on forth on the protagonist and the male option in the love triangle. It's been licensed for a few years now though so you probably heard of it somewhere.

Speaking of, have you been watching Torchwood: Miracle Day? =D I've been saving it for after I watch season 2 but I'm hearing good things!

I could swear someone recced it to me. Maybe I'm just getting it confused with jrock bands. XD It does sound interesting, though, if problematic.

I watched the first ep! Which was great. But I'm saving the rest because (summary spoilers? I don't know how much you know) Jack becomes mortal and the thought makes me TOTALLY ANXIOUS and I refuse to watch Miracle Day until I know for a fact he comes out of it alive. XD

I have recced it! I did a picspam on it here, and yes, you should read it, as it is weird and strange and completely awesome.

although, yes, issues with the identification depending on the sex/gender of the person he was attracted to.

Sorry to randomly comment, but as a bisexual living in Japan, I have to say visibility is NONEXISTENT. I've tried talking about it with a few friends - I don't mean the ones from older generations, whom I'd expect to be out of the loop. I mean Japanese people in their twenties - I can't wrap my mind around going through college without experimenting a little.

If I bring it up, their reaction is invariably, "That's possible? That exists? I've never heard of it. I've never met one before." It's not even that they're prejudiced - I've had better reactions here than I got from some of my gay/lesbian friends in the U.S. It's just that it hasn't even occurred to them - which seems a little dull to me but to each their own...
