I don't mean to exaggerate, but I'm pretty sure SPEC is the best thing ever created.
Toma is a genius paranormal detective who also happens to be weird, lazy, impetuous, and blithely unconcerned with social norms. She's whip-smart and notices every detail of a crime scene, though you'd never guess it from looking at her -- she's usually wandering around picking her nose, at least until it's time to investigate something freaky like a telekinetic murderer. Then she gets super (and totally inappropriately) excited.
It's hard to talk about how great she is without being spoilery, so just know she's really fucking great. She's smart, sharp, determined, hilarious (AND HOW) but also kooky and strange and messy. She dresses like a nun and doesn't care. I don't think she ever brushes her hair... ever. And you'll always find her with her rolling suitcase in her good hand, running over people's feet in her excitement to investigate the next case. She fits absolutely no jdrama heroine stereotype I can think of.
She plays the weirdo right up until it's time to bust the criminal, and then she starts smirking. And laying out every excruciating detail of how they fucked up.
Because she saw everything.
Is the nun look just a cover? Does she act strange so people will underestimate her? Or is being an oddball her natural state, and she's just too lazy to be a genius all the time, except when it's needed to catch the criminal? I DON'T KNOW. MAYBE IT'S BOTH. BUT IT'S AWESOME.

If she weren't so brilliant, I'd say she really is unaware of things like boundaries and situational cues. I don't think anything she does isn't on purpose -- the question is whether it's a deliberate act or if she just sincerely doesn't care enough to act "normal."
