See, that's the thing. It won't. It's practically her trademark. She always comes out of the gate with interesting characters and twisty intriguing relationships and then she does NOTHING with them -- plotlines are completely dropped or retconned, characters get personality transplants when the story requires it and she doesn't know the meaning of the word "resolution." If we're lucky the ending will just be vague and incomplete; if she's in prime form we'll get something rage-inducing and offensive, like rape babies or mental retardation or forever-closeted gay characters.
(She's done Last Friends, Innocent Love, and Kamisama Mou Sukoshi Dake, btw.)
if Xiu Mei and Ren get together then I at least will feel equally betrayed because Maemi is by all accounts supposed to be the OTP
I used to think Maemi had to be the OTP since she's Shinohara freaking Ryoko, but now I realize she's Asano's Unrequited Best Friend (seriously, there's always one) so I doubt she'll get the time of day. The only real question for me is if Rensuke and Xu Mei will both survive the end.

IL... has a lot to warn for, but the OTP is really cute and angsty and full of h/c clings? :D And they actually get a happy ending, which is awesome.
