Wait until you get to episode 5 where you gradually realize that without Dong-yi, small but significant sections of the palace cannot function, she is that awesome. (And she [do you want spoilers] the king!) :D

But history says the OTP won't happen. *sadface* It's the second time Bae Soo-bin's not gotten Han Hyo-joo in a drama.

Is Chun Soo an actual historical figure? Because otherwise I'm thinking (*adjusts tinhat*) there's no reason why they couldn't be OTP. History says Dong Yi bears the king's child, it doesn't say she was in love with him. CHUN SOO HAS A CHANCE.

(The only people from in Dong-yi's family - aside from Royal-Embryo-in-waiting - to be documented by history is actually her dad. Who was apparently noble a few generations back but lost it due to more Evil Robes Doing the Walk of Evil.)

(Records actually indicate she had 3 sons by Sukjong, but lost two of them early on. Wonder if that's going to show up in the show at all.)

Even if they do intend to make her and the king endgame, there's always hope they'll pull an EoE and switch the OTP halfway through. If it were a shorter drama I wouldn't even consider it, but with 50 eps? Yeah, there's enough time.

Did she miscarry or lose them when they were little? Just curious, because the character profile says they'll take her character to her 40s, right?

I don't remember exactly, it was a while ago, but one died during early childhood and the other was either stillborn or died during infancy. Child mortality rates suck.

I'm expecting Chun-soo to show some ab, but Sukjong gets by purely by charm and optimism, which actually makes him a dork disguised behind his royalty. The palace maids still squee, though. :P

We were lucky Han Hyo-joo and the king made an appearance in episode 4; long sageuks don't usually time skip until around the 6th episode or so.
