MENDOL. FRESHLY SUBBED. If you woke up this morning and thought "you know, I have too many brain cells," this is the place to relieve your suffering.
On the subject of subs, I really need to stop watching things that won't get any, but I couldn't resist the siren call of
Prisoner, a new drama about Tamayama Tetsuji trying to escape from a seedy Thai jail. It's less "Prison Break" and more "my god, that man looks good in handcuffs and a five o'clock shadow," but I have hope for the future!
Tetsuji wanders around Thailand, speaking adorable English and cuddling orphans...
Failing basic math...
And standing around at perfect angles to let his flimsy shirt ripple in the breeze.
Then he is wrongfully imprisoned and angsts attractively. Plot? This is enough plot for me.
He manages to piss off his cellmates, who shout at him in subtitles.
Then they commit the capital offense of messing up that pretty face! You fuckers! Those soulful brown eyes are worth more than you know!
I thought this only happened in the laundry room!!
Oshi--
OSHI--
AND YES. THERE IS NEW INNOCENT LOVE. YOU ARE STILL MY NEW FAVORITE, BABY. Angst is my candy.
We last left sisterluster pining in the dark and Junya hanging out with his comatose girlfriend, who is the life of the party.
He moves up in my esteem by having a little self-awareness. Yes! In a jdrama!
This scene made me laugh. Subaru and Mizuki comparing notes! "Don't worry, she was a bitch." "So that's his type?" "Oh honey, don't even try. I've got this covered."
Three people are panting for Junya and he only loves the person who can't love him back. Why is the romantic lead more interesting than the main character?
Besides that hair?
Oh well, points for honesty.
TEN BUCKS SAYS SHE GETS A SPINAL TUMOR.
Also known as "stalking" in some countries. "If he really gets to know me, all about me, he'll leave me like everyone else always does." God, this is a cheerful drama.
... Let me get this straight -- he found their parents dead, and to keep his little sister from seeing the bodies, he soaked their corpses in kerosene and lit them on fire, burning down their home and destroying all of their worldly possessions, getting himself locked up, providing lifelong issues to the only family he's got left, not to mention eliminating the possibility of little things like FORENSIC EVIDENCE that might aid in the capture of the true murderer -- and he did all this instead of just covering her eyes??? LONG-TERM PLANNING, UR DOIN IT WRONG.
Kanon is caught uninvited in Junya's house and outed as a stalker. Obviously this means they decide to rehire her as a cleaning lady, because I know when I catch a thief in my apartment, I decide to give them free reign and total access to my home when I'm not there.
Also, she made Kiyoka smile, which looks fucking creepy.
(The best part of this scene is Subaru in the background like "wtf wtf wtf.")
Kanon is THROUGH WITH LOVE!!! For ten minutes.
Because she still has to explore Junya's house, getting into his fridge and sniffing his clothes.
As pretty as this drama is, I have to admit something is wrong when your most active character is a guy in prison and the most interesting one is comatose.
Subaru pretty much throws Kanon at Junya, which I'm sure thrills Mizuki somewhere.
Bad Subaru! DON'T KILL OTHER PEOPLE'S GIRLFRIENDS! No cookie.
Seriously, is this supposed to be subtle? Is Subaru going to shock Japanese teenagers when he comes out of the closet? "I never saw it coming! He was so straight! All those tender moments he and Junya shared... um, you know, discussing love... with prolonged eye contact... "
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU STALK PEOPLE, KANON. YOU SEE THINGS YOU DON'T WANT TO.
