Best revelation of the ep: Naoto didn't intentionally stab Hideo. It doesn't really change how I feel about him (BULLIES TERRORIZING THEIR VICTIMS WITH KNIVES IS NOT OKAY) but I lovelovelove that BOTH flashbacks had it right. I thought it was just lazy editing! I SHOULD HAVE HAD MORE FAITH.
And this right here is why I'm starting to forgive Naoto. His pain is still very selfish, but he's trying. How can you make up for something irreparable? He's owning up to his past the best he can -- coming clean to friends and co-workers, offering himself to an old victim for whatever revenge they want -- and he's maturing. The old Naoto shut up and did what he was told, even if it was wrong. This Naoto looks his father in the eye and says no. He's not running away anymore. He's not hiding from what he's done anymore. I think that's worth noticing.
And HEE at the CONFIRMED DADDY COMPLEX. You know Naruse has fun with that.
I find it interesting how Shiori and Naoto are both intent on humanizing the killer while Naruse pulls further and further away. Isn't that what he wants? For Naoto to understand what he went through, for justice to be served through suffering?
