Koichi put the finishing touches on the living room just as a knock came at the door. He surveyed the room, rubbing his hands together to warm them. The lights were dimmed, supplemented by elegant candles. There was a slender vase with two tall roses--one white, one red--in the center of the coffee table. He had wisely ordered food in advance, light snacks, and they were perfectly (haphazardly, artistically, therefore perfect to Tsuyoshi) arranged on a plate. Tsuyoshi wanted to spend New Year's together, and Koichi wanted to do it in style.

He smiled and opened the door. "Tsuyo--"
