Thurs. after I picked up the car from the rental agency, I dashed home, and quickly finished cleaning the house. I was nearly half-way done with what I needed to get done when it came time to leave to go to the airport, but luckily, mom called to tell me her flight was delayed. Breathing a sigh of relief, I finished cleaning and actually made it to the airport 40 minutes early.
Still, it was late when we got home (nearly 10 p.m.). She got settled in while I made up a quick dinner of pasta bolognese.
Friday was a full day of shopping. Since I had a rental, I had to take advantage of it. So we went to breakfast at Ann Sather's, the garden center, HomoDepot, lunch, Whole Foods, and Borders. I bought a copy of Dreamgirls which we watched after dinner. I had made the broiled salmon that I posted the recipe of last week.
Saturday, was another full day, that we started out slowly with a simple breakfast and coffee at home, then downtown for the rest of the day: The Shedd Aquarium, Millennium Park, St. Peter's (for Church -- Mom's a good, god-fearing Catholic woman), Russian Tea Time for dinner, and the 8 p.m. performance of Wicked... Got to see K since he was managing Wicked...
L came over Sunday morn to meet Mom, and breakfast. I made the buckwheat-blueberry pancakes (recipe previously posted), eggs, bacon, coffee, and juice... L was still a little queasy from his flu earlier in the week, though... Then the three of us watched "Devil Wears Prada", and went to lunch at Charlie's Ale House before taking mom to the airport... L and I stopped at HomeDepot again on the way back (I forgot a couple things I wanted to get for the building), and Gesthemane Garden Center... Came back to the house for a little naked westling before heading to Target for more s-h-o-p-p-i-n-g, and Sweet Occasions for a quick ice-cream. Then, sadly, dropped L off at his apt., and then coming home to crash...
I was nearly ready to turn out the light when Marty walked in the door... He had phoned Sat. to warn me he was coming, but he wasn't sure if he was staying at his cottage at Fox Lake or at my place Sunday night... Turns out he had a successful date after visiting his Mom, so was staying at my house after all... Only problem is that when he went to pick up the Jeep from his friend Bob's place, the Jeep had apparently been broken into. I offered him to park the Jeep in the garage, and I'd move the rental, since it was just a rental and going back the next morning, anyway. So I got dressed and we moved the cars around...
It didn't take long for me to fall asleep; and waking up was one of those "was that the alarm?! What DAY is it?!" moments...
Mom called to say, again, what a good time she had.... I love my Mom... I'm not a momma's boy, by any means, but I do love my Mom...
