Voting and Florida -- but not what you'd think

I voted.... Lord, help us all. I was all over the map, politically in this election. Actually voting for the Green Party candidate in the Govenorship (despite not knowing much about him); Democrats for most other posts; and actually voting for some Republicans for our County Board (the Dems in our County Board are WAY too entrenched in their cronyism), and NOT retaining any judge except for Tom Chiola who's openly gay, and a Smelt. We had some odd referendums on the ballot too: One to calling for an immediate withdrawl from Iraq. (Ummm, can you say "power-vaccuum"?) Though I hated the idea of going into Iraq in the first place, the right thing to do now is to try to stabilize what we've destabilized -- so I reluctantly voted no. A referendum calling for a ban on the manufacture, sale, and ownership of assault-grade (.50) weapons "for the safety of our children and families". Having watched "V for Vendetta" the night before, even the wording of this one worried me -- so I voted it down despite my disdain for pretty much any weapons. And finally, a referendum on whether the City of Chicago should ban expansion of Lake Shore Drive, or any other development from Hollywood up to Evanston. Again, I voted no.

Also made plans to visit family down in Tampa for X-mas. I'm going down a couple days early 'cause the airfare is cheaper... I told my Mom, who's going down on the 22nd, but the official word to the rest of the family is I'm not coming down until the 24th.... So I'll actually have a couple days to myself to laze around a pool, take in an art museum or two, or just stroll the beaches.

The sad part is that I'll be by myself. Nobody I know likes Florida, or wants to go. Heck, I don't like Florida.

Anyone been to the Suncoast Resort? Is it an OK place to stay?

Car rental is EXPENSIVE in Florida!
