I'm kinda bored, and since we have gone through almost 8 weeks of football goodness, lets talk about it. There has been some ups and downs, especially when it comes to some of my favorite teams....ughh...Browns...
So I, being an eternal optimist, thought my Browns were going to find a way to get into the playoffs. I was basing this on the fact their offense would improve because they got an offense focused HC, that McCoy would improve, and we had Hillis. I liked the Defense last year, and that was also improved during the off season. Well, turns out, our defense is good but our offense is pretty fucking lame. Its just so blah and boring, it seems like we drive to the middle of the field and just gas out.
They have no offense play makers on offense, and I dunno what happened to McCoy's excellent connect with his tight ends during the pre-season...cause its not happened during the actual game season. Browns got through their easy opening part of their season just 3-4, and their back end is loaded with Ravens and Steelers games, probably looking at a 6-10, 5-11, record.
I find this especially frustrating when the Bengals are 5-2, Bills are 5-2, and 49ers are 6-1. All franchise that have been bad the passed decade and turning it around this year, no reason the Browns can't either. Patience is wearing thin...
Houston Texans, the constant is a play off team that never makes it to a play off, has made some better strides. They are 6-3 after going through the hardest part of their schedule, close lose to New Orleans, win over Steelers, and a crap loss to the Raiders. The AFC South is down, down, down, so the Texans probably only need 4 wins to clinch that division. I mean sometimes you just get lucky and Manning gets an season ending neck injury, and Jacksonville cuts their veteran quarterback, and Titan's mvp running back get his money and can't break a tackle.
The Texan's Defense has gone from worst to fucking amazing, based on Wade Phillips, good defensive draft, and healthy returning players. Demeco is back, Barwin is back, and Cushing is back to being the beast he was in 2009. I'm loving him, all night long, I'm loving him.
Defense wins championships, so hopefully this improved Texans D might get the team deeper in the play offs than people think. I am more worried about the Offense, which is still without Johnson, about being able to score...but with a top ranked D, maybe they don't need to score. I feel like they match up well against the Pats with their blitz D, and they've beaten the Steelers, lost to the Ravens due to some broken plays. I have hope....
And now some fast hits
I'm worried the Patriots won't make it to the play offs this year, Tom Brady and Co have come down to earth offensively and the defense relies on turn overs to stop teams. Which after the Red Soxs melt down in baseball, might send New England era into a wicked awful depression.
I don't think Tim Tebow will finish the year as the starter for the Broncos, he just looks very bad out there. The Broncos are a bad team anyway, and its not real fair to expect him to make them a winner. The o-line is doing nothing for him, no running game, no star receivers, and the defense is middle of the road. He will likely be cut or traded, I'm hoping he goes to a team that wants him and he may have to change positions. I wonder if Orton gets to play again or they go to Quinn and if they both suck do they go back to Tebow? What an awful position to be in.
I think Miami is more likely to win a game than the Colts, as that team seems to try to win and the Colts just...eh. I find it sad they don't even seem competitive, like they show up and thats the extent. Maybe thats not fair, I've not watched many Colts games, I'm just going by the scoreboard. Its a sad story.
