Sooooooo - convention report- where to start? I have no idea. I already forgot so much about the whole weekend. I need to read the reports of others to remember all the good stuff XD
THURSDAY
My convention ‘weekend’ already started Thursday morning with my drive to my sister’s place and then I went to catch N. from the airport. Our flight to Birmingham started at 10:30PM local time and dear god, I was excited and nervous - and tired. Which was bad, since I knew there would be almost no sleep for me that night and next day.
At the airport we met S. and D. and all I have to say to the next hours (till 4AM to be honest) consisted of clinging, laughing, hugging, eating candy and drinking sex, making fun of each other and probably keeping the whole floor awake with our squeeing XD
Most amazing thing? I got my own Cas as a present from S.!! I LOVE IT!!!
I was short before dropping into coma when we finally decided to get some sleep =D
FRIDAY
We got up at 8AM (we must have been crazy) and had some breakfast. I took an apple and some cereals, because seriously? English Breakfast freaks me out with it’s sausages and whatnot. :D
After dropping back to bed we went to the Convention Hotel around noon-ish, only to find out that the registration was postponed to 3 PM. I wasn’t surprised :P
So we took a look through the hotel to find out all the locations only to find none. No signs at all of anything going on convention wise. Creeped me out a bit, thinking Doug wasn’t kidding when he said the convention was a week later LOL But no - we saw loads of other girls checking into the hotel and soon after SZ. arrived and we stayed in the Lobby and looked at everything and everyone. When we finally spotted some ppl wearing Rogue Events hoodies, especially Doug, I was relieved anyway. =)
Best moment that morning? Meeting
hils !! I really felt as if I was meeting someone famous LOL Gave her a good hug and I always had to smile when I saw her over the weekend. :P
Unfortunately S. and D. had to leave already and so we had a last cling-fest before they went off. *sniffs* We had a great night and I can’t await to meet them again in May at Asylum Europe 2 =)
Around 3PM the registration should have started, but to say it with Doug’s words “We’re running late.” I think it was about 5PM when we finally got into the line for group D (in the meantime K. our roommate arrived) and got all our stuff. I saw that 2 of my photo ops were missing, but I had expected that since they were already missing from my confirmation mail. To get them wasn’t a problem at all and just took some more standing in a line. Wayne found my money transfer rather quickly and I was able to get into the next line for photos to sign and more photo ops (loads of money gone already, but who cares?) :P
While standing in all those lines I met some more ppl I knew from twitter and it was lovely to see them all finally and not only see their twitter names and user pics. Lots of hugs already in the first few hours =D And I just found out there was someone I wanted to meet very badly, but I had no idea how she looked like and so I talked to her without realizing it and I wondered all weekend if she was even at the event!! XD
After registration we split up into groups. Some of us were heading towards a pub nearby and the rest of us took a walk to our hotels. This area is really a maze and I thought it amazing, that we arrived in our hotels at all. We saw that right next to our hotel was a pub and since we were hungry we decided to eat there. We found the rest of our group there since it seemed to be the only pub in the whole area. SO I had my first real English experience with drinking cider, eating something called pie which wasn’t a real pie and sitting in a cozy small pub.
After eating we went to dress for the Guys&Dolls Party in the Convention Hotel. The party was actually quite good and loads of fun and dancing and I love the fact that they actually played songs from the show. Great atmosphere!
I think it was at 2 AM before we finally went to bed.
