..well.. once again my life seems to fall in a heap. My parentals had kittens when told of the so called nupitals .. -sigh- .. whatever .. so the date had to be cancelled .. because my entire family couldnt make it .. (its hard being a mixed european family .. every dog and his mother wants to be there

*feeds you some dark chocolate* Hang in there, babe. Sorry I didn't respond to your email, but we were in the end-phase of some life drama here too. As a fellow visa-slave(just got my 2 year spouse visa!) and living on one income (or the threat of one), and losing weight, and being an outsider in a town, maybe I can help? lol.

One thought, if he can't square away a work visa for the year, is use this time to smoosh together a Prospective Marriage Visa application, have him jet back to the US (a long visit to family?) and then he can come back for 9 months (work is allowed) before you have to get married. That should buy you and your fam time to sort things. He can travel while awaiting the visa approval, he just needs to let his case officer know he'll be "visiting" you in Oz for part of the time--He just has to be outside Australia when its lodged, and when its approved. OR, if you've been living together for a year, he can qualify for the Defacto Spouse Visa, which is good for 2 years. And for that one, he doesn't have to leave Oz at all.

I know you guys probably want to wind up in the US, but this will at least buy some time while you sort life out.

Also, if ya need a diet buddy, lemme know! I've shaved off 5.4 kg in the last few weeks... so far so good.
