"But Flynn isn't here!"
They had had this argument over and over again in the past few weeks as the date of their wedding drew nearer. Deirdre didn't want to do it without her Flynn. Anyone else she would have said fuck them. But her Flynn was her best friend and she needed him there.
Only Flynn knew what Kait had meant to her. Only Flynn had been with her after losing Kait. Only Flynn could be there for her now when she married the father of her children. If Flynn wasn't there, it would all go wrong, Deirdre was sure of it.
Giles looked like he was wrestling with what to say. His face had gone an ugly red colour and Deirdre just stared at him, waiting. "Look," Giles started in, explaining things like he was talking to a child. "Deirdre, we've spent a lot of money on this wedding."
"I have," Deirdre correctly pointed out. "And I don't care. It's worth spending more to have Flynn here for it!"
"Most people don't have money to throw around like you do, Deirdre! What about people making travel plans?"
"THEY CAN CHANGE THEM!" Deirdre bellowed, glad the twins were with Juliette and far away from mummy and daddy's bickering. "And I'll fucking pay for that too!"
"Do you even care that you'll be messing up people plans-?"
"NO!" Deirdre screamed, silencing him. "I don't care because it's MY FUCKING DAY, okay!? It's my day and I want Flynn there-"
"Well what if he doesn't come back, are we just never going to get married?" Giles asked, and when Deirdre went deadly silent, he knew it was the wrong thing to say.
"You think he won't come back?" she asked, her voice calm and steady. Deadly.
"I...I didn't say that," Giles said, backing away from the angry demon.
"You think my best friend is gone for good?"
"Deirdre-"
"Get out!" Deirdre yelled, pointing to her bedroom door. "And don't come back until you realise I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT!"
Giles squeaked on his way out the door and the second he was gone, Deirdre started to feel bad. Maybe Giles was right. Maybe Flynn was gone for good. But her heart shattered just to think of it. She just wanted to believe there was a chance.
Was that too much to ask?
